Just wanted to thank everyone involved with Pavedwave for inspiring me to begin physically pushing myself again. I have been on a board since I was 5, but took a 12 year hiatus between 1995-2007. I was too involved with booze , grad school, and work. In October, I bought my daughter a pair of Heelies and thought, I want a longboard--they're for older guys right? Knowing that I would get ripped off a bit, I purchased a Gravity SN from a local shop and have never looked back. I immediately began to lose the 55 pounds that I had gained over the last 12 years. Weight loss was going slow until I stumbled onto this site. I began pushing my board only 5 miles. 5 miles became 7, then 12, then 15, then 18, and now 20 per day 5 days a week. Since I began to LDP full time for exercise in May, I'm down to 194 from 229. Only 19 more pounds to be back to my old self. I'll give or take 10 since I am near 33. The main point is, LDP is a life saver for me. Cholesterol is down, heart is healthy, my energy is through the roof, and my wife has a different grin on her face all of the time.(' ')
In short, thanks James and PW crew. You guys are really doing great things off of the board as well as on it.
Jim

There is nothing old about 20 miles a day. I feel the exact same as you. JP and pumping has changed my life as well. And I can’t image what life would be like without it. There is something so awesome about being able to travel long distances and experience your surroundings in a way that mimics surfing. The fact that you’re on my side of the country --- what ever you want to do or can think of, you have my full support. Marathons, 50 mile runs, 100 mile runs, MS150 or equivalent, 24 hour record breaking attempt - future Ultra (Here in Texas) or just a weekend ride. You know what time it is….
We can't let these old guys beatup on us.....
Stoked that you aboard brother…

Hey Parson,
I share Eric's sentiments. I too left skating for other pursuits, some good and some not so much. I always think back to the movie Citizen Kane and Kane's yearing for Rosebud (the sled from his youth) on his deathbed. Well, here we are refinding the sleds from our youth after many years and they are bringing life back into us, a bit ironic. Also, they are making some pretty kickin sleds nowadays, and we can finally afford em !
Getting back into skating has been a great thing for me too. You and Eric have both inspired me to get into better shape, but time is the tough part with our 1 and 3 year olds. Bahhh, sorry, no whining.
I am thrilled that you are back into the skating thing and enjoy your posts tons. Keep em coming.

Thanks, Mark. I totally understand how precious little time a father has for skating. But, just wait until your children are older...they'll be able to join you somehow. My daughter rides her scooter and my wife her bike. Good luck to you.
