Just listened in and took some notes...
==============
"The board Thane rides the most now, is 40" deck with his torsion suspension system.
Ebb and flow of surfing - resurgence of popularity after the "dogtown and z-boys" came out? Yeah that was Thane's inspiration to get back to skating again, skating for the last 5 years since.
300 decks in his collection from 1950-- present. Inspired him to create design, got a 2nd hand board with clay wheels as one of first boards. DJ's talked about urethane vs. clay evolution.
Suspension on boards was rigid... grabbing old waterskis and stick wheels on was how we did surf-style rides back in the day.
One of the DJ's: made 4-foot long oak board back then.
Sector9 starting to notice him now - innovative truck design, what has been bigger, the truck or the decks? Both actually... it's a total monster of a skateboard, can't use traditional trucks, they'd be too cumbersome,
Thane's working on boards that cruise over bumps and don't get knocked off course, the cost on this is not cheap because they're custom.
Thane's sites:

Axcelspring.com"

The Radio show is on my site on the media page. Also there's a video from the opening day of the side walk surfer skateboard showing at the California Surf Museum in Oceanside CA. Thanks to Chris Yandal and John Galac for going to the show.
