|
|
I'm in the process of creating the content for my
www.gtcpldp.com site, and today I was shooting
photos of bushings and combos I like in Bennetts.
I've really gotten into lathing bushngs lately, and I think
that you can make huge improvements to the way your
board rides with a little effort..
For starters, I think that one of the most effective things
to do to a bushing when lathing it is to round off the corners
that sit in the bushing seat. This eliminate the pop you can get
from the edge of the bushing fighting to stay in place in the seat
when the truck is cranked over..
Here is an example of what I do to make them perform.
These are both Reflex Lime 80a, tall cone and barrel.
These have been rounded and I gotta tell you, it makes
such a difference it's unreal.
Here they are setu in a Bennett.. This is one of my favorite
bushing setups for a Bennett for LDP out of everything I've tried.
The rebound is just insane, and it's still loosy goosy...
I use a 5/16" ID nylon washer to make up the height difference
of a stock Bennett with the washer... To the best of my measurements,
the stock Bennett bottom bushing with the washer is 53/64".
Here are a few customized bushings of my collection...
This is an incredible combo, a 75a Reflex with blue Venom Eliminator
on top.. Very soft, yet still plenty of rebound.
This is a fun one too.. Blue Khiro top on the bottom, orange barrel, and
a lime Reflex on top.
Pink Reflex tall cone bottom, and a Lime barrel on top.. Super fun..
A few of my buhsings form my collection.. I really do love bushings..
I always keep a slew of different washers around to experiment with.
This is the silicone grese I use for pivot cups, and if needed, a tiny amount
on the bushings where they meet the bushing seat. It makes things
super fluid like, and very quiet.. It doesn't hurt urethane or plastic.
you can get it in Home Depot for around $5.00 and it will last a long time.

| wow. this is awesome. same for the site. i just got deep into it last night for the first time last night and felt silly for asking any questions related to gear at that point. if i'd have just looked at your site first, i'd have had every one of them answered. |

i weight 280. i know about experimenting until it works, but i dot have a lot to my disposal. i do have two indy bottom and two 83 reflex barrels. those are my softest, but right now, to get what i want, i have to have some slop to get it to pump nicely. i have a short wheels base, so it isn't for LD. i am wondering is i can just run two rounded 83a, or would that seem to be too much resistance. i am thinking that if i get a 81a eliminator, and use it as a top, with a rounded, and maybe hourglasses 83a reflex as the bottom. i am basing it on the 78 elim, 80 combo, but adjusted up for my weight. _________________ Mile High Mark-Diapers and drool cups are way cooler than helmets. |
