anyone try the 85mm 79a thane speedvents. i know they are too big for LDP, but i think with the extra thane depth, they might soften out compares to the smaller models. i want to put these on a homemade pushing deck with some drop through indys. dont mean to thread jack, but this seems to be the right place for this Q. anyways, i have the option to buy some at 55 dollars used.

Hi Flannelman,
currently I am riding the 85mm (!) in 75A and it's working well! Ok, I am quite unexperienced in pumping, so this is my first setup, but I love the speed vents! They are propulsing fast, they are silent, light, grippy and are very comfortable while riding streets, which are not class a surface.
I recommend these wheels and would buy them for this price.

well i bough them this morning. 55 dollars with 2 day shipping included. the pic shows that they aren't even broken in yet. still shiny. i don think i will LDP with them, but maybe use them on a commuter push deck that i take through some harsher roads. _________________ Mile High Mark-Diapers and drool cups are way cooler than helmets. |

I have some 85mm 75a speedvents.
They're nice for pushing and pretty good for carving too. They're super grippy and run over anything.
For me, though, it's pretty tough to get the clearance you need to use an 85mm wheel for LDP. You need a board with cutouts. I was using these on a flex 4 vanguard - not an ideal pumping setup, and even less ideal since I had no wedging, and a little bit stiffer bushings since it was setup for carving.
I'm going to sell mine though, since I hardly ever use them anymore. All my wheels are 70mm to 76mm. Anything smaller tosses me when i'm not paying attention and run over stuff, and bigger... well, bigger isn't always better. |

Hi there,
would you suggest the 77mm or smaller 73mm for ldpumping? I know, everybody has his own taste
Mainly I am riding on quite rough surfaces and streets.
Any tips?
Thanks! |

| rip - if your riding surfaces are rough, maybe the vents aren't for you. There are much plusher wheels available. Between the 77 and 73mm, the 77 will give you a couple more mm of 'thane, as the cores are the same size in these wheels. |

Hey Rip, I like to use either my 76mm Superballs or pink BZigs. On occasion, I've ridden my friends' Avilas or 77mm S9 RFs and found those to be nice and plush as well. The new Landyachtz Hawgs are nice. Really, any wide, small-cored wheels with a 75-77mm diameter and a duro in the 75-80 range will do.
