Had I known what I know now--that I could've shared in this awesome community with seemingly awesome people who love the same awesome stuff that I love, I would've never left. For some reason, a job and a woman were enough to allow me to pack up my bags and scramble back to my hometown of Indianapolis.

The good news: I started longboarding again. The biggest deterrent for me in Seattle was all the hills. Looking back now, it seems there are tons of places to do it, but back then, all I knew was hill-bombing and the cost of the hospital bills I had incurred when I started (and stopped) longboarding in the first place.

The bad news: I am literally trying to build this scene here in downtown Indianapolis from almost scratch. For a couple months, I believed I was the only longboarder in the city. Gradually, as the summer wore on, I have met a small handful of boarders, and quite a few people I have talked to have told me they are getting boards or have just gotten boards but I haven't seen them riding yet. I started a facebook group for longboarders to organize in Indianapolis. We're working with 5 people so far...

Why, oh why, did I leave that beautiful city? I want to go back. Maybe I'll skate there next summer.
