Event : Goodwood Roller Marathon
Date : 9th August 2009
Website : http://www.goodwoodmarathon.co.uk/

Camberley Skaters are proud to announce the date for Goodwood Roller Marathon 2009.  Please put 9th August 2009 in your diary.

Goodwood Roller Marathon is a charity race around the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit. Which ever race you choose to enter you do not have to complete all the laps so why not set yourself a challenge, you may do more than you think! All skaters are welcome no matter what the level or style. It is a great day out and a perfect start if you are new to marathons. There is microchip timing of the laps as well as a medal for you to take home and keep.  More details on the website.

This year we are changing the Mega race to a Dual race, yes a double marathon for all those interested at 22 laps (53.24miles or 85.68km).  Of course we also have the Full Marathon (11 laps, 26.62 miles, 42.84 km), the Midi (5 laps, 12.10 miles, 19.47 km) and the Mini (2 laps, 4.84 miles, 7.74km).

As we ramp up to the event posters & forms will be available and advanced registration will open.  To stay up to date with the latest news please sign up to the mailing list or follow us on your favourite social network.

See you all there.

A quick reminder that discounted registration fees end this Sunday (28th June) as it will be six weeks until the Goodwood Roller Marathon 2009, doesn't time fly!  If you haven't already please register and pay before this date to receive the cheaper rate.  Smile

Whoop!!!!

Goodwood, if you didn't know, is a race circuit with an air field in the centre perched on a high ground about five miles from the English Channel (Sea). Mucho Windyneess.... last year saw a Force 6 wind (gale).

This year...... 8MPH from the SE.

I took a Mermaid and a Rolls Rolls pusher.

I skated the Mermaid and had so much fun LDPing that I have absolutely no idea right now about the time I set. It's all time chipped so give it a few days, but right now.... absolutely STOKED.

LDP is king. Thank you Sir.

That is so freakin rad Keith!!   You capture the soul of what its about.   Finishing strong, satisfied with a personal best and ready to skate the next day, solid.   Awesome that you pumped the whole thing!!   I'm sure your Big Skate Home must have been a nice warm up to this   Very Happy

I updated the Cyber/Marathon/Ultra page with the full roster of UK skaters --

http://home.comcast.net/~jampet99/rides/cyber.html

I didn't post everyone's country nor setup because I don't know all that and it would take some time to fish it all out, but I'd be glad to add details.

For those interested in the "whole" picture this is the PDF from Goodwood including all the inliners.  http://www.goodwoodmarathon.co.uk/results/09-full.pdf

I had a blast at Goodwood this year - my first time - consequently I took it easy the first few laps as I sussed out how it felt to be overtaken by a train of twenty inliners going at speed.

Completely unbothered by the fact that I'd just skated 540 miles in Scotland, finishing 4 days before I left for the event, I was so amped for Goodwood. It's a real experience skating round a total retro racetrack with hundreds of other people passing you on their chosen method of transport.

I skated a 2h 20m time which I'm pleased with as a baseline for next year. I think I can take 10 mins off that easy, and I'll be happy as. Only woman ever to skateboard at Goodwood, c'mon girls, more ladies next year please!

I cannot believe the quality of the skating this year - Matt Elver, my 17 year old fellow Plymouthian took home the men's top time of 1h 49m and something seconds. With those moorland honed legs, I knew he could do it, but the lad was on a flippin' Dervish, 4 Pres's and dirty dirty bearings. Fear him, next year he will be on a dedicated pushing deck! I'm so proud for his achievement.

I'm skating one marathon on board next year and one on inlines. Either that or pumping one, pushing one. I'm not sure, but it will be hilarious whatever happens.

Keith has my upmost respect for pumping all the way round. He was lost in his own little world of happy - never seen him so blissed out. When he got off the board at the end it was laughable. Legs stuck in pump position do not walk well, eh sir?

James, I was riding Demonseed Deelite, Orangatang In Heats Purple Front/Orange Rear, Holey Trucks, Bones Reds
