I just got my 1st longboard a few days ago because constantly buying wheels for my ripstick was eating into my pocket book. I love the speed I get going downhills but, when it comes to LDP just over flatlands or up small hills I'm losing my momentum. I've looked over the posted faqs a bit but I'm really not sure what style fits me or my board.
My board is completely stock right out of the mail so any tweaking I should do with my equipment or my riding style would be really helpful.
Sector 9 Scarab Longboard
Truck Style: Randal R-ll 150mm - Silver
Wheel Style and Durometer: Dano's 70mm 78a GREEN
Bearings: DBS ABEC 7

I'd focus on this -- the right duro combo of bushings and wedged risers for your trucks. Read up on both of those sections of the forum and pages.
Risers: wedge the front, dewedge the back.
Bushings: softer in front, harder in back.
You could get a Khiro wedged riser kit and Khiro barrel bushings in all duros from white up to red or yellow. Might seem overkill but assuming you're hanging with this as more than a 'hobby' you'll burn through the bushings. The full Khiro bushing kit is good, but you may never use their hardest ones except on street setups.
