Things got really ambiguous when they decided the event got too big, then couldn't decide how to plan it for this year.   My guess is that fear of liability came into play... maybe there were one too many sketchy incidents either people getting hurt or pissing off pedestrians or stealing boards, I'm not sure.

I still think they could have done fine at Greenlake in a low-key vein, just laying boards out, no signs, just bunch of boards and good times.  Give all the skateboarders a run-down of how to stay on the right lane and go counterclockwise and maybe give everyone a bell to dingaling at people on the path all day, because its actually pedestrians that can't follow the rules down at Greenlake!!

That's a shame...I'm surprised"Ken-of-Seattle" didn't at least say he wasn't going thru with it afterall. Oh well maybe another time.

Subject: 4th Annual Seattle Dragonfly Longboard Jam!! Alki Beach, West Seattle 2009

Come Skate the Beach!!

SEPTEMBER 20, 2009

^^^  WhAt?  ^^^
The Dragonflies are back and it's time to fly!!  Saddle up your newest board (or boards), fill both pockets with steeze and waterbottles, and SKATE WITH US!!  We meet at Harbor Ave SOMETIME during the day and have a great time skating the boardwalk, hanging out, and sharing stories for the day. It's a way to wind down after a long, hot racing, riding, crashing, bleeding, blasting 100 degree summer and laugh at our silly ways!!

!!!  WHY?   !!!
We will probably be very bored all day. Demos, races, skate games, random trivia attacks, hot dogs, water fights - yes, water fights - so bring a towel and a sense of humor. Please be sure your squirt gun looks like a toy, and not a Navy Seal's standard issue. Suntan lotion is good prevention against harmful UV rays.  Lids (aka helmets) are going to be required for competitions.

+++  WHEN!???  +++
SUNDAY - September 20, 2009!!

***  I Like Longboards!  ***
Me Too!  You're going to see a lot of longboards there. Sorry. What's worse is the owners will most likely let you take them for a spin!  DEMOS from awesome board companies all over the NW will represent their fine wares for your inspection. Aggravating, I know, but at least you get to sample a few different rides and meet the very cool people who design and maufacture the fun you're standing on!

%%%  Never Skateboarded Before?  %%%
The Dragonfly Jam is the place to meet skaters who want to help you learn!  Try out a demo deck, get some tips from the local pros, and you'll be ripping up the paths in less time that it takes to say slidepuck.

$$$  Veteran Riders $$$
NEED YOU to coach new riders, keep them (and yourselves) out of scrapes and collisions along the busy path. Be aware of small children darting out, dogs on leashes, debris and all that other stuff that's killed you som many times. Be aware that new skaters are going to want to go VERY SLOW. Hang back, chill, sprad tha stoke!!

&&&  THEME   &&&

"GRAPE JUICE"  <--- (Shhhh!!!)

I hope you can make it!
