I have a 20% discount available to me through original skateboards. I am looking at the apex 34 or 37 but I have wanted a LDP only deck for a while. Do any of their setups really fit for that? It seems like the terrapin may be close but I'm not sure if it would be the best option.

There are some comments on Originals on the gear page. They are not ideal for LDP. However they do pump pretty well.
I think the best Original for pumping is the Custom 35. I have had a few Originals and thats the one I'd recommend if you decide to go Original.
I think it pumps real well but probably wont be as good for long distance as a true LDP rig. |

Just a thought -
maybe that 20% really is only a seduction
that by limiting yourself to this brand, you are limiting yourself to a sheep
LDP is beyond limits
20% is fools gold if it gets you a less than ideal setup |

| I agree with Ian. If you want an LDP, get an LDP. If you want a nice carving board, get the Original. I've made the mistake in the past of getting an 'almost' LDP set up, and its not the same. |

| Just because originals decks dont seem ideal for ldp (although the custom 45 doesnt look terrible) that doesnt mean there arent other way cool things to buy from them. You could grab some trucks or a sweet carving complete. If you want to put serious miles on a deck though, i would suggest one of the ldp specific decks. |

well the 20% is only on a complete. Currently my board is a freeride brand board with used s6 trucks, bones reds and 75mm purple o-tnags. The board is really just a 42", 3/4" thick flat plank but I can pump it and with the the s6 trucks it actually carves a bit. It is far from ideal for anything but simple pushing though, imo.
I would ideally like to end up with either a nice carving board for simple commuting or a LDP with the right componants of the bat. I really would like to have both but I cant really afford that right now so it will have to be just one. I think that it will have to be a carver for the simple fact that with the discount I can get an apex 34 or 37 for around $177 complete after discount. Just a LDP board such as the mermaid or the walk about cost between $135-$180 and I would still need to buy at least one truck assuming I were to use a tracker b-2 that I have laying around for the rear. That is unless someone knows of a LDP specific board that is more affordable.
With original skateboards being sold out of boards for my wieght I am not in any rush so I am going to think about this a while. What is most likely going to happen is that I will pick up an apex board and use that while my girlfriend (who is an artist) paints the board I have now and sell it. With the money from that I will slowly peice together a LDP as I find good quality used parts. I wish a company like kracked skulls or eastbilt would come out with a good quality entry level LDP deck.
