So not only can they not ride on campus (understandable) -- they can't even ride their skateboards TO and FROM school.
Guess it's better to encourage kids to get mom and dad to DRIVE them to school, and maybe pick up a couple maple doughnuts on the way there.
The admins logic is that skateboards can be used as a weapon.
Other weapons that should be banned from schools:
- #2 pencils
- heavy books in backpack
- musical instruments
- chem lab beakers
- forks, spoons, and knives from cafeteria
...

Well skateboards are specifically listed as banned from cabins of airplanes, so I guess 'weapon' is right....mind you they let me on with a full face helmet*....and that WOULD be useful to a hijacker.
I would imagine this dumb school restriction comes from street boards, where they tend not to be ridden, but put under the arm as a style statement, and not as transportation, which longboards are so much better at.
My first proper skateboard was one I made in woodwork. The thought kids couldnt even do that depresses me....
* No, I wasnt wearing it! |

yep, this one came up on another site...unfortunately, the whole discussion devolved into a smear campaign against the catholic church...something about catholics are hypocrites because the diocese of NYC gave the pope a skateboard, then this little ol' schoolboard, that happend to be catholic, banned skateboarding...and therefore, "hypocrisy"
