We have a fairly crowded and undisciplined trail nearby. So you frequently need to foot break and let the dogs, baby carriages and training wheel set move over. There is one steep hill that's usually too far from the lot for the masses to bother to reach. I carved down the top 2/3rds and everything looks good for the runout so I let 'er roll. As I near the bottom and a curve into the woods, a guy rides out slow on his bike and then at the last second I see he has a tot next to him on a trike in the other lane blocking the whole thing up. Too late to footbreak or setup to slide so I steer off, hop some rocks and fortunately have room and low enough speed to run it out.
In San Fran I was on the embarcadaro bike path (e.g. wide sidewalk) cruising along and a stretch limo pulled right out of a dock building towards the street and blocked the whole thing up. Fortunately I was able to enter a sharp death turn spiral in time and burn off speed like a particle in a supercollider. Wide sidewalks are handy.
What's your blockage story?

I was cruising through a nasty part of town and this car coming towards me is honking and someone in sticking their head out and yelling at me. I cant hear them because Ive got headphones on, but as they get near me the rear passenger throws a half full plastic soda bottle at me.
It soars off behind me and I turn on my deck and throw the finger and yell..
"Feck you fishcake! You missed!"
Then my front truck hits a filthy...rain soaked...used...DIAPER!
I pitch ass first over the front of the board (cos I was turned back yelling) and tumble twice.
I DID jump up off the ground and immediately say "I meant to do that!" so it ended on a positive note.

yeah i have had that happen, well not the diaper part. haha. we are lucky here alot of trails here are not street paths. the only thing is we have to worry about bikers who seem like they are training for the tour de france. They dont stop for ANYTHING, i have almost hit so many of them it. They are almost as bad as the car they always think its yoru fault and they own the trail. some are nice enough to yell "on your left" but most dont do it till they are passing you are almost past you so if you make a sharp turn with out know they your right in front and they get pissed at you. _________________ The concrete is our canvas, our wave, our playgound, our catalyst for growth. it's legal down here for an over-14y/o to ride their board on the road. also, we have some reasonably good smooth cycle lanes that run along the shoulder of most main roads.
so lately i've been utilising these lanes, quite effectively too.
but the number of times cage drivers have pulled out in front of me, or worse, overtake me then pull in hard left into a sidestreet right in front of me, i've lost count. so far i've been able to maneuver around the idiots (well, i rolled into the back of one car on purpose to give them a wake-up call).
a bit annoying, but i can't really complain too much as the general population here doesn't know the law and don't realise i'm in the right.
i'm just waiting for a cop to pull me over and attempt to throw the book at me...at which point i'll show a copy of the law and learn him a thing or two
