Here is my first attempt to make an LDP video. Apologies for cam shake. I made this last night from some footage i managed to get around the areas we ride. Ian and myself appear mostly. But check out the Stacago in the last segment.

Nice, I wouldn't worry about shake as much as focus....
It's interesting seeing the various techniques that people use and the effect they have.
Oh, btw I wish I had your weather right now... _________________ No matter where you go, there you are.... |

Yes, our styles are different. I am not super fast. I just try to keep a mellow, steady groove. But watching myself I need to work on style.
LDP is a great winter sport here. Its basically room temperature outside unless a front pushes through. But 60s is still pretty nice. From June through September, it's a steam bath here. The coastal areas are usually nicer with the breezes. I am sure Spring through Fall is nice up there. |

| I've never seen myself on video and although I've never considered working on my "style" for looks, I'd have to say I don't like how my trailing arm flails around. It looks like my arm is trying to push back the air, but in actuality I'm not using it at all. I think if I just try to keep my hands up a bit and my elbows bent it might help eliminate some unnecessary movement. Thanks angelo for helping me work on my form! |

Stocago:
I do the exact thing For me the flailing is just a way to keep my flow going. And it's not like people will pay any lesser attention to what I am doing if I stop doing the arm movement. _________________ Gawd |

If i could pump 20 mph(32kph) I wouldn't care about my arm flailing around.
But i am still new to LDP. I will work on speed eventually. Right now i just want to concentrate on distance and continuity. The nice thing about being an LDP newb is that i don't have old habits.
I would like to see more LDP vids from our euro friends.
I think if you surfed, it will influence your pump style, especially if you surfed weak waves where you have to pump or "rollercoaster" to keep speed.
But I have never surfed a continuous wave for 5 miles and that is what LDP has over surfing. |

nice! watching yourself really is a great idea, and watching this with your crew and a few beers is a good way to end up in a drunken wrestling match we had a good "slalom review" session at one CSA guy's house a couple months ago where we watched our tapes from the last couple years, the biggest thing we all found was looking for which side was stronger than the other (heelside or toeside pump) and how to improve on that.
i just noticed the "winter sesh" on the video descript... if only our winter sessions included 70 degree temps and palm trees!! but yeah summers are pretty nice up here.
fun compilation of clips and styles. and cool that you've got some home-made soundtrack too! |
