So, I was out for a beautiful ten mile trail run on Sunday with some friends.  It was my longest run since I injured my knee last spring and had to have knee surgery.  The conditions were perfect, and I felt great.  I was running along towards the end of the trail through a leaf-covered section, when my right great toe hit a hidden stump, and I did a face plant.  It hurt like crazy, but I shook it off and it was cold enough that my toes were already a little numb.  I finished up the run thinking I had "jammed" it pretty good and had only a sprain.

An hour later, I could hardly walk on it, and my toe was turning very colorful shades of purple/blue.  An xray yesterday confirmed a toe fracture.  So, the lesson to me was quite clear, skate more and run less.  Of course, I won't share how times I've been launched off the front of my board after hitting rocks or sticks in the road or path in the few weeks I have been LDPing Wink

Hope to recover adequately for ultraskate.  Should be healed well by then.

Dang!   Heal up quick bro.   And yes while I find LDP to be less of a beating in general than running, it also dishes out some quick justice when you least expect it.   It's just a miracle my wrists and knees aren't a little more severely mangled.  I know if I got some proper X-rays they'd probably see little fissures through the wrist bones.

As Elmer would say, "West and Wewaxation!"

Thanks for the well wishes!  Today hurts a little less than yesterday.  I might try a shorter session on the board by Thursday.  It will certainly keep me from pushing much  Very Happy
