If I saw that correctly, the cameraman skated between the braking offender (left of braking Jeep) and oncoming traffic - very scary - not to mention the potential for the subject skater to have slid into/under the braking asshole, I mean Jeep driver...
On the other hand, attempting a video on an obviously busy stretch of road not too cool either. |

When you skateboard, bicycle, motorcycle you need to think 20 steps ahead at all times to stay alive. The car will always win if you don't think proactively.
Personally I would have went for the grass or squeezed between the two cars and kept on going.
I have been hit twice by a car in one summer skateboarding when I moved to Fallbrook from La Crecenta, Ca. Luckily I landed on the hood.
I have also slid in to side of cars to take the impact if I had no choice. I also had Car door opened up on me on my Bicycle in Okinawa
Luckily I stood up real quick and it just took a chunk out of my chest. I landed flat on my back because I was toe clipped into the pedals.
If I would not have stood up I would have took it in my face.
I did as always got back up and licked my wounds and went on my way.
I have also been rear ended at red light by a car on my motorcycle the guy was not paying attention slammed in to the back of me. But I was okay the licenses plate tail light lens was only messed up. So he gave me $100.00 to forget the accident. I took the $100.00 and went on my way.
The person driving the car is amore shaken up then the person getting hit usually in these situation.
I was driving my VW van down a alley way a kid jumped off a set of stairs into the side of my Van. I dragged him for about 15 feet before I came to a stop it was not pretty. He was taken to the hospital was there for a few days.
I was so depressed I hit the kid even though it was not my fault. You keep thinking what could I have done to avoided this accident.
I know the guy in the video slammed on his brakes but he is bigger and will win. All he had to say was I saw a rabbit or the sun light got in my eyes thats why I braked so fast.
So just be safe when you are out on the road think ahead of you all the time or you may not skate again.
That is why I am seeking out bicycle only trails so I can feel the freedom the 1970's when you could carve the concrete wave and not worry about getting hit by a car.
At least with a bicycle you both can get up walk away from your wounds. _________________ Terry |
