I recently got a note from a guy that's been seeing spyware flags from his anti-virus software.
"hey dude
im a masssive fan of your site
but my new anti virus software wont let me access it
because its classed as spyware
...
always enjoyed the updates, especially in the gear section
anyway
have a good one
cheers
"
The only thing I can theorize here is that I'm using a free web traffic tracking software called "statcounter.com" which gives the visiting IP address from only the last 100 visits, then it goes away (unless you upgrade to the paid version.) I mostly like this data to see where people are coming FROM (mainly Google)
In any case, statcounter places a completely innocuous cookie, and doesn't do anything invasive, but I know that some anti-virus programs are pretty aggressive and flag any cookie activity as "spyware."
If anyone else sees this, please drop me a line (pavedwave @ comcast . net)
