pavedwave distance skateboarding distance skateboarding, flatland pumping, cross-country adventuring, boardwalk cruising, and all things skateboarding and good times
We hope to do this on the weekend (19 & 20 june) and on this skaters wet dream. But if they ask too much for it we go skate around a lake nearby. We got lots of 'm here so that wouldn't be a problem.
FYI, Oregon State Games are June 19th. Id like to make those if at all possible. _________________ Subsonic Pulse V2 - Bennett/Airflow - BigZigs

Cool Wizzy, you got lots of lakes surrounded by beautiful asphalt you say? Sounds like another trip is in order.
Thanks for the heads up Dave, OSG is a huge event for the Northwest and CSA, that will definitely factor in, especially since Subsonic was planning on the next Ultra. So for now, the 25th or 26th of June is looking more likely for us here.
So we're gonna go for the weekend of the 26th. Gives me a little more negotiation time. First off to the south of France for a short holiday
Maybe some of the English will come too, would be fun!
We're definitely up for the number eleven Ultra. 'Legs Eleven' as the seaside bingo caller would say! Don't know where yet but here, there or somewhere!
Hey Edwin, that track looks sweet! What are the little encampments with the blue things? They look like wind shelters or something.
Hi Jo, I really don't know what they are. Maybe freezer pumps for the ice track. It is 5 km long so i think it's for that.
Why don't you English come on over and skate here
We are now with 14 people and we hope to get some more. LD is fairly new here but the stoke is growing!
Mr Wizzy... how can LD be so new to you guys when you have so much smooth pavement and flat land?! I have never been to Holland but I'm told it's beautiful.
So, I would love to come over and skate with you guys but it's in term time for school and all that kind of stuff... but I'll try. I'm so looking forward to the Legs Eleven Ultraskate.
You're skating for the WWF? That's cool, I think it's good to be skating for someone else because then you can remember that it's for them that you are doing something so crazy like skating for 24 hours through the night.
Oh I know LD isn't new to these guys, Wizzy's been on the scene for quite a while now! Sounds like he's saying it's been catching on over there though -- no doubt the Skaiti event got a few people hooked and at the very least raised a few eyebrows.
I hope this location works out for you guys -- curious to hear how smooth the surface is.
Only one month away -- these always seem to sneak up!
The question I often hear from people at this time is: "Who's down for the FULL 24?"
Right now in Seattle I believe that is:
1. Panda
2. Andrew
3. Scotty
4. Sheldon
5. Me
We still got Jo, Wizzy and the wild Dutch crew?
One thing I'll say right now is that if the weather turns to absolute CRAP, the way it has the last few times, I'm going to sit in my easy chair and cheer people on, if we're going to stick to the date. I've done enough "Navy Seal" skates and I'm dying to have some warmer, dry, relatively wind-free Ultra conditions. I realize by scheduling a Friday it makes last minute cancellations tougher so I'll stay with tradition and be there to support (as long as someone else in Seattle commits to the full 24), but IF this weekend turns wet and windy, my personal contingency plan is to just repeat a tiny Ultra on a nicer weekend following. Sheldon's up for this as well. But I'm keeping the faith (and the June 25th date) for now!!

Have you ever been around the Portland International Raceway? During the summer there is a skate night, but you only get 45 minutes.
No but PIR sounds cool! If you know more on which date etc let us know! Sounds like some possibilities for a push race and maybe Subsonic can get involved.
Wizzy great to see the guys racking up some scenic cross-country mileage over there. What a blast! Can I quit my job now?
Jochem just reposted some details on the Dutch Ultra plans over on skatefurther, so here's the latest for the fellas who skated ALL night at Skaiti!!
" Ultraskate XI, 1st Dutch Ultra (26-27 June '10)
At the same time Pavedwave (hope you're getting better!) and friends are going to ride Ultra XI, the Dutchies will do one of their own! It's an unofficial event open to anyone. No sign up, on public roads, etcetera. We just couldn't be bothered or find the time to set up a big one this year. For me, it's a bit of both
Some of us are going to start at 10am on Saturday morning, I hope to be able to do that too. If not, I'll start at noon.
Our local forum administrator (Edwin the LDP/driver at Skaiti) lives in the area and has picked a number of good routes to skate on. Most, if not all, are cyclepaths. Ed's an LDPer so I am confident the surfaces will be great.
During daytime he is planning to circle the 5th runway of Schiphol Airport a couple of times (blue route). It's a 22km lap and he's chosen it because one of the nightly venues might have pedestrians strolling through the park during the day, and if the weather is good there will be dogs to dodge as well.
At night there are two options, a circle around a small lake (3km, red) and a longer route heading towards Nieuw Vennep and Lisse and back again. That's about 18km and is marked as the green route.
Here's the map, the purple line is an inline skating route that connects the runway course with the others:
I am hoping to be able to safely use the lap around the Toolenburger Plas for the full 24 hours, because I won't have to carry as much at a time and also because we probably won't all be skating at the same pace and when you stretch out over a 22km lap it's going to be either adapting to someone else's pace or being a bit lonely
I'm posting it up here because I heard there was some interest across the pond and I'd love to skate with you guys again. It's only the Channel that's between us anyway, people swim across it!
This might not all be too clear, that is probably because I am not the guy with the local knowledge in this matter and because it's more of an unofficial get-together-and-skate-24-hours-thing. Feel free to ask any questions
Thanks to WiZzY the Admin for the info and the map!"
