Hello. I was wondering if anyone has a shoe preference other than skate shoes? I'm looking at performance shoes for tennis. It seems like longboarders might benefit from the same attributes a tennis shoe like the Adidas a3 Accelerator gives tennis players.
Thanks

I absolutely love these shoes. Tron from NW had a blue pair too and they looked killer.

To be honest, I tend to go with whatever $20--$25 skate shoes that feel good when I first put them on in the store. That's my main criteria, because I'm going to burn up the soles from footbraking pretty fast. NSS seems to be working the best / lasting the longest lately. My wife literally makes me throw away my shoes when they start destroying my socks because I can wear them until there's basically no sole... that's when they start feeling good! It was seriously hard to put that last pair in the trash.
But I really like the flat platform on a skate shoe, and on thin canvas shoes (maybe that's closer to tennis shoe?) What doesn't work for me at all are running shoes. There's just too much give on the toe and heel.
The other thing that's been tweaking my brain on this lately is Barefoot Ted's influence. He wears the vibram five finger "shoes" whenever he's not walking around or running marathons barefoot. When I don't have to footbrake, just long, flat trails, then I'm going to be testing these out, along with Ted of course. He wore these in a recent Seattle Push race. Pretty sick idea, and really gets your feet in touch with your board, without losing skin to the grip tape.

| Sweet! I am buying those Fivefingers. I go barefoot all the time anyway just not skating and hiking. Now I can, kind of. Thanks! |

I refuse to pay more than $30 for shoes. I don't even think my current faves are skate shoes--more of a fashion shoe, but they work great. Kohl's often has shoes on clearance and these were 15 bucks. It has a flat gum rubber sole with awesome grip. |

I can't make myself pay full price for shoes, except for a pair of those black Adidas 70's basket ball shoes that everybody are wearing. Couldn't find them any cheaper, and I can't say I regret, cause I haven't seen any wearing on the soles after 'miles' of foot breaking. But the size and lack of breathing make them pretty hot in the summer...
I do though try to get quality shoes on sale. Just got a pair of pumas for .. my god ... $60 is cheap here in Norway ...
Well .. kinda cheap. Huh .. then again it just might be the kroner compared the dollar.
Cheap + big soles = buy _________________ Gawd |

They can sometimes, but I have found that wearing socks in them helps out a lot in those cases. I really like the Nuwool socks from http://www.injinji.com, since wool is anti-bacterial it also helps cut down on stink as well. |

Howdy Folks
I continue to enjoy wearing my FiveFingers while skating. I just love the feel, even while foot braking. I like to have my entire sole on the road and just feel the surface sliding by...and try not to get a hot foot.
I have been adding non-skid patches to areas where I saw wear starting, but Vibram soles are famous for lasting long. The patches I am adding seem to be helping. The product I use is called SureFoot www.surefoot.net
I am totally unhappy with the smell of my FFs
I like the idea of wool socks. Injinji socks are one. I am sponsored by ToeSox www.toesox.com and they are coming out with a wool/synthetic blend toe sock soon. Will report on it soon. But I do like the idea of less is more, so prefer no socks when possible.
My feet are pretty tough, so the other day I did a lot of pumping on a grip tape board without any problem...other than my feet were slipperier than my FiveFingers on the same board.
BFT
PS. I am still recovering from a pavement kiss made nearly two weeks ago.
