I have seen a few guys in here from Florida.
How about we put some type of ride together so we can meet up?
I am new to LDP but, i am super stoked on it. I live in the Orlando area; we have some great trails around here. I live 5 miles from a trail that is about 30 miles long. Also, we could do some type of "Pub crawl/pump" with a trail system down town.
Answer me back if interested!

Getting together sounds good. Because of my work schedule Sundays are the only days I can count on being off, and lately it seems we're already in that Summer weather pattern so it would probably need to be early since it's raining pretty much every afternoon. I'd like to do Orlando sometime but it would take some planning ahead.
We're in the Tampa Bay area--Pinellas County, about 2 hours from Orlando. How about meeting us over here sometime? Ian, Paul and I have found some pretty nice stretches along the Pinellas Trail (30+ miles) and the beaches. |

Yes, we will get together soon. I got no problem driving down and meeting you guys. Keep checking this post and we will set it up. I am full up for about the next 4 weekends. But, after that we will hook something up.
All you other guys in Florida give us a shout. |

flogginmonty,
I skate with Greg (Stocago) and Paul (AngeloPB) here in the Clearwater/St. Pete area. We'd love to skate with you anytime you are in the area. Between us have a nice selection of decks that you are more than welcome to try out. We have found some pretty awesome places to pump, too.
I've got you in mind for next time I'm in Orlando. LDP is blowing up! |

The KonaTown Longboard (and Tobacco Pipe Shop) is organizing an 11-mile ride accross St. Pete to the beach at Treasure Island. (I know, but to non LDPers, that is considered a long ride.) See link below for more details.
I spoke to a St. Pete Times reporter about the event so, hopefully, he will cover it and maybe do a feature. Most coverage on skate day is how police have to brace themselves and negative stuff relating to street skater kids. So the longboard angle woudl be a refreshing departure.
I will wear my Paved Wave shirt. But it's so hot here as of late. I was thinking of cutting the sleeves off for that vintage Scott Bao/Tony Danza look. (I have an extra). I am also bringing a hydration pack.
The idea is to turn people on to LDP. We are all ambassadors of the sport. So for one day, let's not be withdrawn or conceited and proactively spread the stoke! A group of hippie and hipster longboarders is a good place to start. But some press would be better. So I am hoping Ian and Stacago will come represent, yo. Floggin, if you can come:
I-275 South. Exit at 22nd Ave. N. Go left(west). Left at the light on 16th Street. KonaTown is in 2900 block on your right.

This was from go skateboard day in St. Peteresburg and was sponsored by a local longboard shop. It was only an 11 mile ride to the beach but we would stop and take breaks to hydrate, skate ditches/infrastructure, shoot videos and photos. But it seemed longer in that it was agaisnt the wind and in steambath weather. We drank beers at the beach and a Party Bus limo van picked us up. It looks like a mobile strip bar on the inside. We educated the other longboarders about LDP as well as a reporter for the St . Pete Times. So more to come on that, hopefully.
Here is a pic of current and future LDPers in Tampa Bay area.

Hey was great skating with Paul, Greg, Ian and all the rest of you guys.
Thanks for the setup tips and showing me what is possible with LDPing.
At the time I did not know I was skating with famous cyber-mile pumpers. That makes me feel beter that I was having a hard time keeping up even with my kahuna big stick.
I have changed my set up with 75mm pink big zigs new bushings and more dewedging in the rear and some more spacers to prevent whellbite.
Went for a 7 mile pumping session last night and am going faster then I can with my begstick. I just have to work on my endurance to keep up the fast pumping.

Welcome to the forum, Eddie!
Sounds like you're getting your setup dialed in nicely. If you're digging your board your conditioning will improve, because if you're like me, you'll want to skate daily. I enjoy it much more than long distance running, and as a result, my running times have suffered. But my cyber miles have gotten a lot better.
Ian, Paul and I usually get together for an LDP session once or twice a week. Feel free to join us if you're in the area sometime. Just shoot any of us a PM. |

| What trails have you guys found? I'm interested in hearing about this 30mi trail in orlando. I'm still a noob to LDP, but it would be nice to practice with some nice scenery rather than my street. |

Thinking of putting on a shorter Ultrask8 on Saturday October 31st 2009 maybe a 4-12 hour event. to be held at the newly paved Rothenbach park in Sarasota, really nice place esp during the heat of the day. it has 2.7 mile loop and a 1 mile loop both mostly under canopy.
I will try to get them to sweep the path right before the event. figure we can get as many loops as we can/want. Greg, Ian, Paul, or anyone else interested?
If no one is up for this long a ride maybe we can do less laps?
Eddie
