Awesome to see the Illuminati held in such high regard.

As my city thrashin', trail trashin' see all do all board, I could not be prouder of how the Illuminati is turning out. Here in the UK we have quite a lot of buzz about the boards, which I take to events for people to try out. The next Ultraskate I do will be on the Illuminati in hybrid push-pump setup.

Keep enjoying the boards, keep trying new setups and keep riding!

Hey Pavedwavers. We at GBomb have some news worth noting, but first a photo of two Illuminati decks. The one on the left is one of the final Illuminati stringer decks that we will be doing, it is headed for Sweden. The deck on the right is bound for Japan. It has an all Mahogany core.

So, here is the news. We are planning to transition to the all Mahogany core recipe for the Illuminati platforms. While we love the beauty of the stringers and we are very, very, happy with the performance of these decks for 225 lb and under riders (myself included). Eric and company even have a couple thousand miles on our test decks and they continue to add to the total. However, we are finding that the switch to the solid Mahogany cores gives an even more robust deck, and we can control the flex of these platforms b/c we are able to procure and plane the cores down to precise thicknesses in-house.

One quick disclaimer about the use of the word Mahogany. I am not claiming to be a wood expert. So if what I say here is off a bit, feel free to correct me. Mahogany gets used for many types of wood that are similar. So Mahogany is a family of woods with similar properties. These different Mahoganies come from all over the world. I won’t give away all the keys to the castle about what specific Mahogany we are using, but it falls in the family of Mahogany.

Richard is our 250lb aggressive rider and friend of Eric Lowell. Richard finally met his match with the Mahogany core proto that we gave him a few months back. Until this deck, he had relatively quickly destroyed EVERY flexing deck that he was aggressive on.

We have a couple reasons to explain the added robustness. The Mahogany core is a harder wood than the soft Aspen that it replaced in the stringer deck. It also provides more structure to compliment the glass and carbon fiber laminate. This structure allows us to go thinner with the cores. The thinner core minimizes delam stress at the interface. We are also finding that the surface of the Mahogany really likes the resin, and this provides an great interface for the composite.  Look for us to transition fully to the Mahogany for the Illuminati.

What's going on G-Bomb guys, I've got a few questions for you all.

I'm in the market for a 37" low but still pumpable board, and the G-Bomb looks spot on.  So if I have this straight, the Cambiar has camber, very little concave, and adjustable brackets front and back; but what's the difference between the Illuminati and Dark Matter?  Does the Illuminati and Dark Matter have an adjustable front plate?  FWIW, I'm 155 pounds.

Hey Petary791, I am a fellow Michigander from way back. I am originally from Grand Rapids before migrating west. I see you are from East Lansing. I have always been a State fan. Go Spartans!

I am going to recommend that you review the posts from around page 10 of this thread to get the details of the different boards. Please follow up with anything that is not addressed.  We usually get back to Michigan once a year and a board always comes along.

Hell yeah America's High Five!  I thought I heard somewhere you were from Michigan, good to see more people.  Go Green!

Page 10 is quite helpful.  When do you think you're gonna come back to Michigan?  I'd love to ride with you some time!

I just got my Illuminati today, and it is everything I hoped it would be. The flex is just right, the concave is a great balance between comfort and control, it is low enough to push, yet totally pumpable. I am stoked. Pity winter is setting in.  Evil or Very Mad

What Allen failed to mention is that he already put in some mileage with his high energy German Shepherd and his Illuminati. C’mon, we need to see a picture of dog.

Ok  Razz The Shepherd is an energizer bunny, the mix is ok with a walking pace. I have taken them both now with the Illuminati

Yesterday I had my first ride on my own G-bomb which is the 28” lightflex mahogany deck of the Illuminati with the fixed angled brackets….

I think it’s a beautiful board and with brackets it’s amazing, my friends when they come round they’re always like ‘what’s this board, what’s that board?!’ and I every time I say ‘it’s a G-bomb’ and then they’re like…   *shock*!

The ride height compared to the Mermaid is lower so it’s much better for pushing but not so low as a proper pusher but a proper pusher can’t pump or even turn that well, so it’s much better.

The pump ability is different than the Mermaid somehow.  You can practically do any technique of pumping on the G-bomb e.g. the ripple or power pump. On the Mermaid you can feel yourself directly pumping, but on the G-bomb you kind of feel you want to carve then you find yourself pumping and flying.  Like you push the truck, not just press on it.

The colour of the G-bomb is so awesome with the glint of mahogany on the twin strips, and the shininess of the carbon fibre.  It’s just amazing. It’s so flashy!!!!

And as for the setup I’ve got Eric’s best advised tips so my G-bomb has a Bennett and an RTS and orange O’tangs on.  It looks amazing and it’s a bullet when it comes to pumping.

For LDP I love my Mermaid and I now love my G-bomb too.  I’ve got to say at the moment in my preference they’re kind of the same but not the same…..am I making sense to you?!   They are both amazing.  The Mermaid is great for long distance pumping and the Illuminati is great for long distance fun in pumping, carving, pushing and everything else.

I hope you enjoyed my review of this amazing skateboard.  I love it.
