James, I think a gathering is in order. I've never been to WA and I want to meet you and see Green Lake.

Are you up for the Equinox, or the Solstice?

Yours,

Stoked, from Winnersh.

That would be awesome Keith!  I completely agree, and am shooting for both, an Equinox-ish one (VI) and another some time around the Solstice  (VII).   And if the opportunity arose I will jump a plane just the same to meet up with you and the crew at Dorney.

Our Winter one is going to have to be scheduled very flexibly, even possibly mid-week, given our really unpredictable winter weather patterns.   Right now I'm thinking a little before the Equinox.  New Zealand's got an advantage there, they'll be in the middle of summer, although they do have a good number of rainy days throughout the year as well, their temps will be friendlier.   For the Northwest I would like to guarantee as much as possible a completely DRY event, especially after we chose to bail on the last one with a post-midnight rain.   So I assume our next might be one of the most low-key ones yet, like only a few people here in Seattle over the night hours.   It's pretty hard to drum up a gang of skaters or supporters that want to stay out through night temps of 25--35 degree weather for "fun"!

Next summer's Solstice ultra could potentially be really wild -- if we wanted to do it ON the Solstice weekend, the 19th/20th.  I just can't imagine sleeping through the Fremont Solstice parade, it's such a blast.    So just imagine, your sleep deprived brain, after finishing a 24-hour ultraskate, followed up with a quick breakfast, then body painting and naked bike + skate parade for another half a day?!   It might be just a bit too insane, so I'm still considering the weekend following the Solstice, as "Plan B."  I already know these weekends are going to conflict with some pretty big slalom or downhill events, but distance is going to have to take priority next year.
