Seattle's Ultra is postponed. Over in Atlanta at Marion's 188-mile race last weekend I chatted with Paul Kent, Rachael and Conan, and for a number of solid reasons we collectively decided to move our Ultraskate to later in the year, tentatively fall. There's also a guy from Florida we raced with who's talking about making the trek up here for it as well. I hope this doesn't bum anyone out too much, especially the Dutchies.
Now IF anyone in Seattle / NW is seriously still gung-ho about throwing down 200+ miles on June 17th, drop a note here. I can still support you at the Friday morning launch and in the wee hours of the overnight, where it really matters.
Edwin, Jesse, Paul, the rest of the Dutch brothers, and New Zealand - STOKED for you. In the spirit of the event, I'll still plan to be skating some mad distance that day.
Neh, we are going for it, 18 man strong and some support Too bad you guys can't make it but I'm sure you'll make up for it the next time. I'm building a carbon foamcore dropped deck for this event for Jesse to ride on .
So, that's a no on the 17th/18th ultra at greenlake? Sorry, I'm late to the party. I'm not looking to do 200+, but I'm down for a long ride that weekend, lemme know. Isn't solstice parade or something that weekend too? _________________ Subsonic Pulse V2 - IndeeSZ 139mm - BigZigs

Wizzy, I really hope it works out for you guys in Holland! We usually have to wait for the weather forecast just a day or two before -- it's probably just as unpredictable for you guys too. I think I'm mostly over doing the Navy SEAL rides for a while (but never say never) In any case I'll be doing Rain Dances for you guys and hoping for the best!!
What's wild is people crawling out of the woodwork now around Seattle, I've got Greg and another new guy on FB, a few guys on NWLB, and William on email asking about this Ultra 13. Damn! Honestly if I'd known there was this much genuine interest earlier it might have influenced a decision to keep this summer one alive. We need some way to get more feedback like this sooner, but I know it's human nature to hold off commitment this big.
Still, it IS Father's Day this coming Sunday so if there is a good sized group of guys freed up and willing to go for some distance, we could always shoot for some long trail ride that ends at a Brewery?!!!! Thoughts?
I don't know the details of the Solstice parade but skating through the parade then the Burke-Gilman/Sammamish Trail ending off at a brewery would be a good substitute for an Ultraskate.
I couldn't get ahold of Sherpa yesterday to see if he'd be up to a skate of this distance but I'll try again today. He'd at least want to meet up for beers later in the day.
Sherpa wants to get painted up and skate in the parade. He's also up for skating the Burke-Gilman. I've never been in the parade but I'm up for it as well.
Sweet! I'm considering the Solstice parade for reals again now-- if so, you guys know the gig, right? The big paint party is in Ballard and starts 7 a.m. Saturday, you could get there around 9--10 if your paint job isn't too complex, $10 or $15 at the door pays for the location rental and paint. Of course you could skip the party and just paint yourself anywhere really, if you have the stuff. The group leaves promptly at 11 a.m. and bike / skate through Ballard to Fremont by 11:45 a.m. (critical to be there before the Noon parade) It's a killer time, hope for good weather!
Wizzy--- Holland Ultra may not have been so lucky?!! Hope you guys can just postpone to next weekend? Would love to see what kind of miles you all can crank out.

It is still unsure, the forecast got a little better today while we were on the verge of calling it off.. we'll see
definately big plans here, so i would be sorry to have it postponed..
Sherpa and I will be in ballard at Hales Ale, if I'm correct, early getting painted up then. From what I understand most, if not all, of the painted cyclists/skaters will be naked; I'm not up for that but I'm not against a banana hammock/Speedo.
Will/Sherpa-- unless you're talking about some private party at Hales, the main party this year will be at the old Ballard Library. Check -- http://solsticecyclist.org/
Panda, you interested??
Just got an email from another guy today, said his kid was up for skating 100+ miles tomorrow...they had no idea it was postponed. Man...maybe I should start up like, a forum or something?
