First, since the spherical bearing has a ball in the center, I find that you need to cut out the center of the bushings on both sides of the ball (top and bottom) to allow the "edges" of the bushing to better seat with the truck/outside of the bearing?
Make sense? Probably not - I will post pics soon.
Further, I have secured several "ball and cup" bearings and I intend to replace the pivot cup with a precise cup-joint and an inserted ball into the truck. So, I will update the results for that here when I complete that too...
But the bottom line is that I have virtually no king pin wear, no bushing chewing, and I personally love the feel...

It feels really different than it used to be, more responsive, and use less effort to make each pump.
Downside, i have to make..well...cut..the khiro top conicals to fit the new spherical seating. It's basically two white cones put together like a hourglass. So far, it's working nicely.
i guess i gotta upload a pic later on. |

yup.
i cut the bearing seat on my whites & oranges.
i'll upload the pics after i locate my cam.

too lazy to edit.
Alright, the cup white khiro isn't too obvious..and bad epoxy job is bad.
and i have to use two cones hourglassed together..if not, it won't fit.

OK, Here is a setup just completed last night... IMHO this is THE way to go for Bennett's 5.0 on the front - I am lucky enough to have a ROE and a Pulse and I just set up the Pulse - I rode my new pulse last night for maybe 5 miles and chewed the heck out of a set of bushings...
So I drilled our the 5.0 last night and epoxied in the spherical bearing, cut the bushings as specified above and rode it this morning - again, IMHO it is like a new board - just so much more efficient and smooth to pump.
This is the part number for the spherical bearing 63195K14 from McMaster

And, because I do not have a machine shop, just a drill press, what I do is mount the 5.0 in a medium size vice and I press the existing hole with a 3/4 twist drill... I then finish it off with a dremel and a steel bit to just-open the hole large enough, then I balance the whole assembly on a block and I use 30 minute, 2-ton epoxy mixed with what is aclled "micro-balloons" which is a filler to strengthen the epoxy...
Here are a few pictures:
Sorry - This is my old dog Henri... Although he does like to skate
Here are the relevant pictures

dmccoach,
is there any way that I could pay you to modd a 4.3 hangar for me? I'd love to try this out but I don't have the tools or the time. |

| anybody ever try this for a tracker RTX? i know it's been done on indys, and RTX's are similar to indys (to the point where they can use the same baseplate)...but is there anything i should watch out for doing it? |

Let me think about that if you wish: call me (send me an IM and we will connect) and I can talk you through it - it's not too bad - but you would have to invest in a Dremmel tool (they're not too expensive and every tinkerer must have one anyway).
