Wipe Out

This Canadian-made film has been making the rounds -- I spotted it on northwestlongboarding and ncdsa.   It features the 7th annual Vanc BC Seawall cruise, where most kids are still riding without lids.   I think the Portland Push races all required helmets.

Wears helmet.   Skates through retirement.

Does not wear helmet.   Rides the rehab pony.

This film is so gnarly, it's almost hard to watch.  Fortunately I wear my helmet for just about everything!

Should I wear a helmet for some cruising and flatland pumping/surfing with a Carver C7 setup?

You don't have to, but it's all personal choice.

I didn't for a long time, but then this revelation came to me, that had something to do with my being the sole breadwinner for my family, along with a crack on the back of the head from a backflip off the board after hitting a pine cone at 15mph.

It doesn't take much, and even the most experienced guys can go from riding the tube to eating from a tube, in just seconds.

I hear that kinda stories alot. Maybe gonna buy me one soon.
Nasty looking picture. We got the same hairdresser!

What kinda helmets look a little subtile? I'm a little fella. I tried a helmet in the local skateshop today, size seemed ok but I looked BIIIG

There might be some better advice from others, I haven't experimented a whole lot with different helmets.   XL ProTecs work for me because I've got a pretty big noggin.

The helmet I really like looks-wise is the old flyaway, looks very low-profile, but I'm not convinced it's the best protection-wise.

A pretty stylish helmet worth trying out are the Bern helmets, with the little sun visor in front.

check out the range from Capix.

i've got one of their Colin McKay models, super super super comfy (puts ProTecs to shame), and uses EPP foam so they can handle a few hits before being binned.  lightweight, not bulbous at all (pretty thin profile since they fit so snugly).  they come with an additional sized inner too (S/M, L/XL).

i tend to only use mine when doing DH and when hitting any bowls/pools of decent size...however after being spat off the other week just from simple wheelbite i'm thinking of wearing it alot more when LDPing.

yeah being the single breadwinner makes you take a different look at things.

Does anyone know the difference between the Bern hardhats and EPS looks wise? Does EPS look bigger on your head?
