ultraskate SD, solo run ( pavedwave request)so guys here is a very late set of pictures from my set of the ultraskate session from the 14th of last month.
i did the entire run solo until the last couple of miles when i met upwith some more people, still by that time i had 88 miles on and decided to go to my night trail area to finish the night.
well anyways here are some of the pics, i ended the day with 96 miles under my name and am looking forward to the next one so i can beat my record and join the 150 milers at least.
this was the supplies for the day, my board of choice and the little things that would keep me alive for teh day worth of skating.
San diegos own beautiful silver strand run. 11 miles going one way
and 11 miles going back
the first run going down was actually really easy and fast since i was getting a descnt backwind and reached a good 16mph pumping average. still full of energy
head wind coming back was making it impossible to pump, so i took a little from the chris yandall book of tricks and skogged all the way back.
getting back the first time i noticed that i would have to pace myself relatively well or i would just not make it far, but still with lots of energy i continued on
after 44 miles i was really feeling the pain fall into my calves and my lower back, i quickly realized after the first 22 miles that any kind of weight ( a backpack with a tiny water bottle) had a big effect on the riding.
some constant updating to the thread on silverfish every 22 miles or so, and some refueling after every run.
66 miles down the wind picked up and it was now very very hard to make it up again, feeling tired as hell and my legs feeling like noodles i decided to take some much needed rests, at this point being tired and winded was not a good feeling but i decided i might as well restt when im dead. off to one more.
ok this was me before leaving the silverstrand and going over to eastlake for the final miles of my run, the silverstrand isnt very lit at night so another location was due.
unfortunately i didnt take many more pics after that, i was just focused on breaking the 100 mark, and after a couple more hours i just couldnt go anymore and called it quits at 96, being a little dissapointed yet very happy with my results.
i had never done anything of the sorts inmy life and trained only for a few weeks beforehand, so to me this is a great acomplishment and am looking forward with great expectations to the next ultraskate!

my board is a fibreflex kicktail deck only thing is i cut it up so the kicktail was out of there, its a little thin for my tastes and has now ben replaced with a dedicated LDP deck custom made by DustM from the fish.

Yousa! Nice board - put it on a stick and lick it! YUM, YUM - looks like a Roe? Is that a glass bottom (on top of fiber?) - What is that?
