The 9 week plan for a faster stronger me.I joined the army. Basic training is 9 weeks long. No skating there though, after that I can bring my boards to my barracks. I will be in Red stone Alabama for a year after basic training. There I will get to go to school for radar repair. I most likely be the only soldier longboarding to class. They have hills there, should be a great time. I was lucky to land this position. It's a chance for a civilian career I would never have with out uncle Sam's help.
Plus $39,000 for school and a $20,000 bonus. Hard to turn all that down!
My long distance skating got me into the physical shape I needed to inlist.

well hey that's not something you hear every day. i wish you well on this change of life plans. my dad was a "mustang" in the navy, retired LCDR, before i was even born. he said whoever does it should really take advantage of the educational opportunities / paid tuition, etc...
seriously, be safe and get everything you can out of this experience.

Yes, the military is a great stepping stone if you know how to take advantage of what they offer. I was in the Air Force for 4 years, they paid off my student loans, taught me a trade, and the much needed certifications to land a civilian firefighting job.
Study hard and remember keep all your notes, books, and certifications!
I just wish I had kept my PT mindset, I've already gained 40 lbs ... arrrhhgg! It's hard to change diets exercise regimes at the firehouse.
Wish you all the best!
