Subsonic Pulse 40 Comments

I got my Pulse 40 deck few weeks before Christmas and here are my comments:
This is my first Subsonic board. Deck is standard with no adds on and set up for + 180lbs. Really beautiful shape with superb finish on its grip tape, epoxies, cut, fiber carbon and trucks pre drilled holes. It also impressed me how light and thin it is – incredible!
My only observation would be both Subsonic’ stickers would be better if placed under last layer of epoxy, of course this is a minor thing.
Actual Set Up:
Front truck Splitfire 107 (white/white) with wedging of 20 degrees. Wheels Retro 76mm – Green; Rear truck Airflow 110 (yellow/blue) with 10 degrees de-wedging. Wheels Retro 76mm – Pink. WB at 29.5 set up.
I did few runs using Bennett truck up front but for my taste this board goes better with Splitfire.

Pulse 40 requires a wider pumping stance than my other two decks (RR Mermaid and Insect FF) but I don’t why, it doesn’t bother me at all. It feels natural from day one and moving around this board is not a big deal when different pumping stances are needed. This deck is so easy to pump and accelerates incredibly fast – I have raced against my daughter (6) riding on her bike and we’re tie most of the times. The smooth concave shape offer perfect balance transmitting the pumping forces to the trucks very efficiently. Board flex is spot on for my weight and its torsion perfectly tuned.
It is wide enough at the right places … very comfortable.
At high speeds give safe feeling.
This board gives me the sensation that I’m glued to it at any stance but with the ease of moving around when need it.

It is a fantastic board for LDP and playing around.

pulse owner now

I picked up a pulse.  Put bennets with 15 degree wedge up front and bigzigs on.  The board works real well.  Used CX's on a tierney deck (stiff) last year and this has better energy return.  Also, front big toe feels better, less mashing back and forth, more of a pure carve.  Still getting used to top end, cant do quite the "flat wigggle" you can with a CX.  Who needs to go 25 anyway Smile  saving my foot is worth it.   Can turn hard enough to carve down steep single lane trail sections.
