How Do James and All Wink

I got a news letter from Maria the other day and noticed the Chris Yandall model there and wondered how long the other member of the team (you) would take to get his board up there too.
Nice one Smile

Looks like you have a Richy double cone melt together special in that there Bennett Wink I have a couple of those in my Skennet's.

Take care,

Very cool and affordable composite deck for us. I really like the graphics of Chris doing the Samoan squat nose wheelie on it also.
I use to be able to hang 10 nose wheelie over 100 yeard and G turns front side and backside and backwards. I tried to master the Samoan squat and fell down hard most of the time made it 5 foot once. Your balance get thrown forward when your in the squat position.

Did I post I was able to purchased the June 1976 issue of skateboarder magazine with the Trick tip of  Chris Yandall's "Cut the jive & Jog" That became skoging. It also has advanced slalom techinque with  Henry Hester it has photo of Stacey Peralta being chased by Chris Yandall through construction cones at the San Diego world contest. Talk about a historical photo the man who made modern skateboarding what it is today. The king of long distance skateboarding and still racing slalom at age 50 plus. It also has a Tom Sims interview. It probley the most historical skateboarder issue ever.
I paid $5.00 for it with out the cover I wish my mom would not have thrown out all my orginal copies of surfer, surfing, skateboard magazine collection when I was in the airforce.

Terry is it this one?

SO any more info or pics on these here decks? from the front it looks alot like a slalom deck. maybe just a longer Slalom deck? it looks interesting.

also any idea when they will be out?

No wrong issue that the Chris Yandall interview issue. The one I have is
volume 2 number 5 june 1976. It has the Jog and Jive{known as skoging now days}  trick tip in it. I read it on the way up to Estes park ,Colorado. Family was having a family reunion
We stayed in Lyons, Colordao I rode my skateboard a few mile downhill on the highway. I used the jog and jive on the way back to get back up the hill.
Colorado is very cool up at the elevation the highways is wide and gradual down hill run that you can keep a good 35 mph speed.

I've got some more shots but I'm holding off until we get to the next proto, it's coming along well and I'm hoping within a month or two??  Total speculation on my part...

IMO, LDP decks are basically slalom decks on steroids.    So yeah, this is a bigger version of an AXE 2.5 but with some subtle shape differences and a nice little kicktail.
rodgon

i figured so from the pic. ^_^ good thing is love my axe deck hehehe.

will it have any flex though?
pavedwave

It's a comin... and it WILL have flex!

It's still looking like a month or so out -- not only are they already busy down there with Sk8jams, ASR, etc., the snow and rain is pounding here as well.   Always have the garage though, it's a lifesaver.
edp_swakakin

WOW - This is awesome!!!  For me to see you two come together on a project is a match made in heaven.  I hold both styles so dear to me.  And both you guys are revolutionary – truly.  Major, Major stoke on this...

Out on the trail and at the garage a few times now... digging the setup (blue venoms in front, Stim/Khiro in back)

Will be pulling back the wheelbase a notch, and working on the flex!

cappa

Very cool, in  glam-metal way Smile

Specs? Is it glass & wood?
thomas

Looks cool. But why not make the board a bit shorter and mount the rear truck on the kick? I think it might be nice to have your back foot on the kick, like in slalom.
pavedwave

Yeah I'm moving both trucks back a full inch or more, the nose one is too far forward right now, and the rear will have multiple WB, one is not out on the tail but right on the transition, I'm going to move it back just another notch.  WB is the part I can do here...tuning the flex is the trickier one.

There's glass, there's wood, there's glam-metal sparkles!!
LDPanda

I got to ride it around a lil bit at our sesh last week. I agreed that the front truck needed to be moved back a hair, id like to see how it would be with the rear truck mounted on the tail, but i also know that my feet would be screaming if i did ldp in a slalom stance (with my rear foot up on the tail). I thought the flex was very nice for my weight (200lbs) but i can see how you lighter guys might want a lil more flex from it. The composite materials were very responsive imo. Ill be intersted to see how much sk8kings is able to sell the deck for with all them newfangled materials. The sparkelies were cool, the deck you brought was ungripped, so i didnt push it too hard. I know sk8kings has their own 'hardcore' grip, but i wouldnt mind if they stuck edger grip on it Smile i like mine super uber grippy, like cut your hands to shreds grippy.

The Sk8kings AXE LDP is cancelled as of this time.   Considering I started this conversation up with them at Hood River almost 2 years ago, it is a little disappointing.  But I think given the time and cost it would take to make this deck work just right, I think it's a wise decision until they're ready to do so.

I did appreciate Sk8kings support, their enthusiastic jumping in and dedicating a "LDP page" to this right off the bat. But at the same time, I felt this made the page incongruous with Yandall's skogging thing.  So in a really long-winded email to Maria, I recommended the changes that she put into place just a few days later, when the page went from "LDP" to the "Distance, Endurance, X-country" page.   I just listed out those three words, and Maria saw "D.E.X." jump out at her, and ran with it.   So for me, that was probably the most serendipitous event of this whole collaboration.

There's always a longer story, but I'm going to leave it at this for now.
blake

that sucks i was looking forward to it i liked the idea?

P.s. what are you gunna do with the Motley crue (fav glam metal band) board?
