Set Up for RainHi Guys ...I'm just curious about your ideas on your optimal set up for wet surfaces. I usually run pink Big Zigs with Pleasure Tools sealed bearings. Sometimes it rains for a couple of days in a row & I still gotta skate, so has anybody else found a solid wet weather set up?? Mmm would it help if I cut a thin tread pattern into the wheel??

well i was hoping to hear some other opinions too, but coming from the NorthWet, we deal with this a lot. in fact the DH guys in Vancouver train in the rain all the time, pulling high speed slides and all that.
for pushers, I think one great cheap setup is a schlongboard (from old beat up park board) with big wheels and cheapest bearings possible. chuck the bearings when they're shot. chuck the deck when its shot!
the rollsrollls can be an awesome dedicated pushing setup for rain, because it's pure carbon and takes on very little damage. it has big fenders, and huge wheels.
bearing strategy is your choice, either go cheapest/throwaway, or else pure ceramics and try to make them last.
as crazy an idea that pumping in the rain is...the "optimal" rain pumping setup would be:
- PURE ceramic bearings (ceramic bearings, ceramic casings) available on eBay
- foamcore board, well sealed on the edges (Roe Racing foamcore Mermaid, does not exist until ordered!)
- rain-grooved pink gumballs, or Xtreme rain wheels (Xtreme indy rubber is slow in general and not as reboundy as urethane, however...)
so that's my 5 cents. i'm finally getting a bicycle for wet days this winter as well. and with fenders...
