Rear truck widthHi,
I have been reading this forum and James site trying to figure how to tune my mermaid. I see that a popular setup is a Bennett 4.3 or 5.0 and a Tracker 129.
I realise that front truck width is a compromise between acceleration (smaller truck) and top end speed (wider truck) but I don't understand the reasoning between rear truck width.
How does the width of the rear truck affect pumping performance, is it that wider rear gives more stability with compromised pump?
I was intending to mate a 4.3 bennett on the front of my board with a 155 Seismic stable on the rear is this the wrong thing to do and should I have ordered a 130 instead?
Sorry to be a pain this is one hell of a learning curve.
Many thanks,
Nic

Now I'm no lawyer, but I'd say that yes, the wider the truck the more stable it will be.
I run a pretty stiff rear truck (RTS 129mm), but before the RTS 129mm I ran both an Indy 149mm and a Tracker Six Track. My current setup is overall superior to my previous attempts, but I don't think the RTS 129mm had as much to do with it as me getting my groove on with some bushings and wedges.
It's a steep learning curve for sure, but this amazing community is here to help you with whatever you troubles might be ... skate wise. OR if you just want a big internet hug.
.. Don't worry. It's only a question of time until someone posts a reply that might actually help you.
