Pulse and Mermaid setups

Mermaid Split rear, bennet geezerized front 78a? or 75? speedvents
Subsonic Pulse Splits front and rear Speedvents 83. possibly the sweetest board I own. Although While I have many many boards, Subsonics are just the sweetspot for me.

Comparison of pulse and mermaid

Those are some nice setups you've got there. I'm considering ordering a Pulse, but it would be helpful to get some feedback before I commit to yet another expensive deck.

How do the two decks compare in terms of flex, concave and camber?

What is your weight, and what flex options did you request for both boards? I'm 170 lbs, and have a mermaid in the flat/stiff configuration, and it suites me well, but I'm not sure how that would translate to the weight ranges for the pulse.

I'm also interested in how the board shape works. The mermaid has two wide areas that correspond prety well to where my feet are positioned for LDP. The Pulse has its rear wide area further back toward the rear truck. Do you position your back foot on the widest area or further forward? Is the pulse's shape for functional reasons or is it just to be different than the mermaid?

Thanks for the help!

Zack, nice to see the boards set up and ready to rip! maybe some vids in the future?! Also will be curious to hear your flex impressions.

Rick, note the Pulse's widest nose area is also slightly moved back, in relation to the "hips" being farther back. The stance is just a wee bit wider than the Mermaid but mainly its built with a focus on powering off the rear truck with the front foot a little more behind the front truck-- i.e., your whole center of gravity is moved back 6" or so on this one, getting that rear foot firmly locked into the concave. so that's the functional idea. Of course, aesthetically it also worked making the nose a little more tapered than the Mermaid's as well.
