Plan B .... need help!At this point I feel contacting either Roe or Subsonic is going to eat away the remainder of my summer, and frankly I want to LDP. So even though I will continue to attempt getting one of their awesome decks I really would like to find a LDP deck that is actually obtainable. Is there anyone in existence that can point me in the way of a killer deck? I'm sorry if i sound jaded, but I pore over all the stuff on the site and jones to LDP. I have a Dirvish w/ 180s and I know it's just not cutting the mustard. Thanks to anyone who assists me and curses to anyone that flakes. acrid

I remember reading a thread about the Insect Dragonfly as a decent board for LDP, but I don't know how readily available it is. You could consider looking at used decks. In any case, you should perhaps get any other equipment that you need at this time. You could always set up your Dervish (top mount) with all the proper components while you search for the right deck.

The dervish is set up and rides Great!! It's my trampoline all-arounder. But I live in a city with no hills, so although I love dancing and carving and jumping in the car and driving aimlessly for wicked inclines, I am finding the need for distance skating. I thought my dervish would be low to the ground enough and springy so I can play around during commutes, but it steals energy that shaves miles off my stamina. Once I stumbled across this site I felt like that girl in Flashdance with the bucket off water being dumped upon her. LDP for the inner-city win. Problem now, how to actually get an elusive LDP . I mean a board specifically designed for distance pumping. I'm so new to this, and James has so dialed the art and engineering that I feel I'm left with the four choices presented me. I LOVE the mermaid but feel maybe my foot would be too far over the trucks. The LBL seems like a perfect fit as it has a kick nose and probably the best choice for the city. But then I saw the Pulse. OMG that is a beauty and was said to have a farther back front foot placement. So I'm getting that for sure....eventually,maybe. If he'll consider making me one. I just saw the Galac and that looks unorthodox in a Killer way so I want that for sure as well. Lord knows how long that will take. So sorry for the ramble but I'm left with what shall I choose as a interval deck I can actually obtain in the next 1-2 weeks to closest recreate above said super decks? Thanks for helping guys, I appreciate it.

this is what you need to do-
buy a fibreflex 42" cutaway. put the front truck on the innermost set of holes. Take the rear truck and bolt the REAR holes of the truck to the farthest forward PAIR of holes. The front holes of the truck should be over solid wood. Use the truck holes as a guide to drill (there is a bit size that is the exact diameter of mounting holes) out the deck. Basically you will end up with a shorter wheelbase that takes no measuring to drill and roughly ten minutes to complete. If you don't get what to do, I will upload pics of my 44 pintail that I did the same thing to. Now my board works great (I can do 20 miles and up comfortably) even with 215mm wide Indys.

Get a Gravity SN 45. It's a great deck for LDP. I used mine forever until I got the okay from my wife to spend money on a Mermaid for Father's Day. The SN is still a favorite for inner city LDPing. The kicktail helps out a lot with curbs and such. I love the Mermaid for hauling ass on flats, uphills, and downhills when out on the trails.

Contact Scott at Subsonic and talk to him directly and see how fast you could get the board, then decide.

fibrelex boards are way cheaper and they have great construction. Once you shorten the wheelbase, the flex is fine. Not to take away from scott's work, because I love subsonics.

Just get the custom and wait 3 weeks or 4. Whenever I try to go a cheaper or easier route it costs me more because I end up buying the better product anyway and I'm stuck with something I didn't really want.
It'll be worth the wait.
OR....order the subsonic or roe and buy a cheap longboard deck to hold you over. You're wasting time on decision making.

fibreflex boards are not a cheap board. They have really nice construction. Plus, if you did by one and shorten up the wheelbase for LDP, and then didn't like it, you would always have the other wheelbase options to set it up as a great pusher or carver (maybe too high for a pusher).

Thanks for everything guys, but it looks like I have located a single Walkabout in Texas. I placed the order yesterday so hopefully I get it. Gonna order the rest of the gear today.
