are the khiro bushings very loose over most kingpins? on my stock kingpin on a pair of gullwing chargers, there's a significant gap between bushing and metal. it makes the hangar very sloppy, even when i crank the nut down very tight. the gullwing has a very, uh, "loose" pivot cup compared to say, a randall. i'm mainly curious why the khiros have so much 'gap' to them.
am i crazy?
is this normal?
should i just eat the khiros since they look so tasty and have that wonderful smooshy texture?
all the best,

You can use washer to take up the slack or grind them dow and stack them. I am not sure but I think the Khiro Bitch bushing are for the randall type trucks?

ah, so maybe the bitches were what I was looking for.
btw, the vertical space "along" the kingpin is Ok - it's more the diameter of the bushing holes, relative to the kingpin diameter, that I'm curious about.

Remember I said I think. Wait for advise another board member or shoot off a email to Khiro. To see if the bitch bushing are made for that type of truck.Or just stack a pair of cone bushing <=I> like this to take up the slack.

so i played around with this a bit more.
it seems the khiro barrels well on reverse-kingpin trucks like the randall r-ii's because their pivot cups actually constrain the hangars to a fairly consistent rotation axis. the cups are deep and fairly hard, and the nubbin of the hangar is well-machined to fit down into the pivot.
the gullwing chargers, on the other hand, don't keep the hangar from flopping around. their pivot cup is really shallow, almost like a ball-and-socket joint. the hangar has a poorly rounded, small nub that barely fits into the cups. so loose bushings with lots of flex like the white or orange khiros just don't mix well.

so you're talking about two things, right? one is the diameter of the center hole through the bushing. khiro's are a little loose in that respect. you might try the aluminum sheath solution that Eric's been working on, the "how to prevent shredding bushings" solution.
the other thing is the pivot cup -- i wonder if the ones that came stock in your gullwing baseplate are the soft cups, and if so, trying the harder ones might make a difference in forcing the hangar into a more controlled rotation?

thanks for the reply.
yes, two interrelated things.
the loose pivot cups exacerbate the "wiggle room" on the khiros. i think the charger cup sockets are just too shallow to really work well with very loose bushings. i'll keep on with the (excellent) stock bushings for now. i do have a pair of small hard khiro pivot cups, so i may try those out instead of the soft.
for now, i've thrown the khiro orange barrels on my girlfriend's randall 150 front truck, where they work great.
