New Board Blues

Mmm, the joy of a getting a new board.
So, picked up Pulse, took awhile as custom type production does.
Set it up with Bennett 6's and RTS Rear, some khiro bushings in the front and some nice pink gumballs.

As being a barefoot pumper, grip tape usually doesn't agree too well with me(although as I do it more and more I get nice hard feetsies), I requested this board with no grip tape(plus being too cheap to pay a bunch for it Wink).

Couldn't pump it nearly as well as I could some big ole sector 9 bumbucha that wasn't meant for LDP'ing, figured it was a combination of not being used to the board, not enough grip, and not skating enough.

I had this great idea of finding a nice alternative to grip tape, as well as it being cheaper. Lo and behold, duct tape! It's not nearly as grippy as grip tape of course, but it seemed to be to be sufficiently grippy enough.

Oooh the pain! This nice new board had some duct tape applied, I was at first worried a little about the paint job, but thought it would handle it enough since grip tape is a lot more sticky that duct tape.

Yowww the pain of doomed paint! So yeah...don't know what to do.

cool idea.  duct tape fixes everything  Very Happy

you mean you have bennett 6.0's on your sector9 as well?   i've found the 4.3's and 5.0's easier for pumping in general.   hope that deck works out for you as you tune it a bit!

Yeah had the 6's on the sector 9 as well. Haha, I needed new trucks and was reading the thread about the Bennett 6's, so I thought that would be the best choice, guess I was wrong. Thassok, I love the surfy feel of'em.

yeah, when i read back through that thread i see what youre saying.    it is pretty much a positive review on the 6.0's, which isn't surprising-- my main point on those is they do feel good, at certain speeds.  basically a faster speed.    so if you're keeping up a faster clip, on a bigger board, and you prefer bigger sweeping turns, then they work.

but so much boils down to personal preference.   i got back on my Carver CX board a few weeks ago and had a similar experience, as those also have pretty wide hangars.
