My New Hybrid PumperHow Do All
Over the past few weeks I have been working on a new board, a Hybrid Pumper which goes by the name of Namaste' though it's not so much a name as a statement and a greeting to any passers by that see it
The Pictures and details can be viewed here:

Please feel free to ask any questions or make comment.

Wow, it's so low. How does it pump compared to your Walkabout? Does not having you foot over the front trucks have any disadvantages?
Any more photos of the rear truck? I love the way you've worked a little 'fishtail' to dovetail into the rear truck bolt.
It looks like great pusher+ldp.

And Hello to you too!
Very nice Barry!
questions questions, I think you will get many. The top two in my book are...
One) How does it compare to the Walkabout? otherwise, how well does it pump?
Two) Can we have a better look at your rear.. ...truck? If I am not mistaken it would be very stable and not help turn much. The wheels just will go up and down pretty much 90 degrees to the board.
Anyway it looks cool, and you are now included in the Mad Scientists list..

How Do Both
Thank you for you comments, much appreciated.
Using the Walkabout as a comparison is a bit unfair I feel as this board is just meant to be a fun pumper that can be pushed if need be, but for me it is more of an experiment to see if I can make something that pleases my eye and is fun to ride.
There are several faults built into the board some of which for me make it astheticaly pleasing but detract from the over all ride, the board is very heavy as the metal work on it is steel at the moment and you can really feel this when pumping it; though as you gain speed the momentum of the board keeps it moving at a fair pace, with Aluminium parts the board will be much lighter and easier to pump (not that it's hard to pump) and the deck is a bit long but I liked the way it was looking so I kept as much material as possible from the original deck.
The rear truck is completely dead and as you rightly say only goes up and down, the result from this is that it is very stable and in my honest opinion more of your pump is concentrated toward the front of the deck which I feel helps with this design of board but I am not finished playing with it by a long shot to say wether it does help or not, the pumps are less carvey though.
I am changing things bit by bit to see what works or not as the case may be.
I do not have any other pictures of the rear to share at the moment but when I have something I am truly happy with I will post a complete set of pictures and details.
Over all the board is easy to pump from a one push start but not as easy as a correctly set up Walkabout or as efficient,
Having your foot behind the truck instead of over it makes a LDP board feel more carvey with deeper feeling pumps, try standing furtherback on your pumper and see what it feels like, the difference between over the front truck and just behind it are not great just a different feel. I have now mounted the truck as close to the deck as it will go.
As for being added to the mad scientists list, I doubt what I am doing is that much of an inovation as my ideas are just variations of things that other people have allready shown us.
the only thing different on my board from Eric's (aside from the shape and materials) is the rear truck and that is just a modification of a mountain board design allready patented, I am just a tinkerer
I will let you know more when I have tried and tested it properly as today was my first day of riding and tinkering with it.
Take care,
Barry

Nice Barry! That looks like a lotta fun.
Be great to hear how your rides evolve the setup. That's a great looking shape, I like the way the simple griptape and board shape work together.

How Do All
Thanks for the comments and photo posting info James, I will have to try the photo posting again.
I will post more info and pictures of my board as when I have made the heavy metal parts from Aluminium as I think that will make a big difference, the rear truck will be getting some modifications and I am making a shorter deck version as well to see how the wheel base alters the ride.
I will keep you all posted.
Take care,
Barry

Awesome work Barry!!!!
With any luck we will hook up soon for a skate. I'll see if I can smuggle over a deck for you....

How Do Eric
Thanks dude, it will be cool if we can skate again, I hope to have my lighter brackets and back truck made by the time you come over so I may be skating this and not the Walkabout for a change.
Smuggled deck? that would be awsome though I hope it won't have any pagages of white powder hidden inside
Take care,
Barry
