My 1st LDP : Longboard Larry Walkabout;Bennet/Splitfire,Zigs

I just yesterday put together my board.  Longboard Larry came thru in record time, ordered on Saturday, received on Tuesday.

I set it up with Bennett 5" front truck with Khiro white bushings and a cut-down Khiro orange to fill the "Bennett gap".

Rear truck is Splitfire -- also with Khiro white bushings.

Front wheels are 70mm Retro Zig-Zag orange
Rear wheels are 70mm Retro Zig-Zag green

I tried it out on the 4-mile down/back on the "boardwalk" here at Seaside Oregon.  I then decided to move the rear truck to the most-forward position -- it works for me better now.

I can do the quick/short pumping (similar to slalom), but haven't quite got a good "sustaining" pump -- a slower cadence just to maintain.....

I've tried moving my feet around and found that I always revert back to my "slalom" stance  even if it may not be the most efficient.

Anyway -- I've got a new toy and am enjoying it.

I read somewhere else about the Bennett mods (sleeve around kingpin), change kingpin).  And those make total sense and I might do that.

I also think I may go all orange Khiro bushings, but I don't have any here at the beach.

Let me know how you like the walkabout.  I am thinking of picking one up too as a backup board.  My current backup board is a Gravity SN.  It's losing its snap quickly though and is beat to hell since I surfed it for a year before converting it to a LDP board.

Lets get a one month update?

How's that Walkabout treating you... would love to hear.

Pumpin the boardwalk at Seaside sounds awesome.    I hope we find some trail for a distance ride down in Salem on one of the next slalom trips!

Running white khiro in back seems pretty loose, is that working for you?  I tend to run red and/or yellows in the back and whites and oranges in the front.   Great stuff Pat, hope to hear more soon.

Yes, I think I need to go stiffer bushings all-around.    And I think I might have wedged a bit too much on the front truck.

I will be making some adjustments, but so far I like it and believe I can make it better.....
