Love my new Galac LDP GTCP

Last weekend, while in San Diego, I picked up my new Galac LDP GTCP board from John Galac.  Before describing this fabulous board I need to say that John Galac is a cool dude. He’s totally into skateboards as you’d expect. He’s a craftsman and loves to talk about his boards and other projects in the works. Support this guy- he’s good for the sport.

Now about his board, the LDP GTCP… wow. It’s a thing of beauty just as pavedwave said in his review. The lines are simple but elegant.  And the ride is sublime. I bought a blue one with the standard pumping setup (Bennett/Tracker RTS, BigZigs) and it cranks. Pumping up to speed is a breeze. I have several long, gradual inclines I ride that used to cause me trouble with my old board but with the GTCP I just cruise right up ‘em. It’s amazing to ride- smooth but with enough road feel. Flex is great for my 165 pounds and I really dig the totally flat, super grippy riding surface. Most of all it’s fun!

My first ride on it last night was ten miles all pumping. I could have gone farther but ran out of light. This is a big deal to me. I’m just a beginner and my previous best ride was 7 miles and that wore me out. I’m now thinking 15, 20, 25 miles is within reach. But it’s like I told John Galac in an email yesterday, it’s not really the distance of the ride that matters most to me, it’s the quality of the ride. With his board my ride quality just went way up!

p.s. anyone in Bakersfield CA want to go for a ride?

Alan, hope you're loving it, it looks great!  Very Happy
Before too long you'll be pumping more miles
than you ever imagined....
Thanks man,
John

I've been checking out some possible routes for the upcoming Ultraskate and gave the local bike path (Kern River Parkway) a try. Had planned to ride a segment of it one-way but surprised myself by doing that and turning around and coming back for a total of 35 miles. Every moment was a blast. Got several compliments on the cool board. I'm still lovin it. Thanks again John.

How Do Aschmidt , John & All Wink

That really is a sweet ride Aschmidt, I am planning on adding one or two of John's decks to my quiver soon, Maybe even one to hang on the wall instead of a picture Wink
You have also helped me make up my mind on the colour, that is a real nice Blue.

Nice pictures also, pure Board Porn  Laughing

By the way what is the setup you are using, Bennet 4.3 Tracker 129 ?

Take care,
Barry Wink

Hi Barry,

Bennett 4.3/Tracker RT-S 106. Very easy setup to pump with this deck. I've got a 129 on order so I can try it with a Bennett 5.0. Another Galac rider, rodgon, reports preferring this setup.

They are beautiful boards!

Beautiful.  I can see why you love it.  How durable is the finish on the board?
It looks so great, hate to get that first scratch.  But its more or less inevitable at some point.  Unless you never ride the board, right?
Congrats on that fine board, I'm sure you'll be enjoying it for many years.
In fact when I get one myself I'm sure it will eventually in time be passed down to my son as a family heirloom.

Looks beautiful.  How's the grip without concave and a toestop?  Think you'll be adding a toestop?  I can't wait to pull the trigger on one of these.

Thanks. I get a lot of compliments on this board. I've loved riding it and have reached the same conclusion as you- if riding means getting a few scratches, so be it. Fortunately, the finish is pretty tough and easy to clean. Other than a few scars from wheel bite, she's still a beauty! I think that someday, when I'm done riding (or can't anymore- perish the thought), this will be the board that I keep.

For me the grip has been very comfortable and I've never felt like it needed a toe stop but I tend to be more of a cruiser and don't push real hard.
