It's not working....I setup my board just like all the forum posts say to but when I take the board out, I wind up loosing momentum as I pump. NE Suggestions?

Maybe you are not going fast enough.
Get a head of steam by pushing up to 10mph or so before you switch to pumping.
Pumping is very difficult at very low speeds.

how would I know if I'm doing 10mph or not? I'll usually get like 3-4 solid pushes before I try to start pumping but the same thing always happens, I start out ok, then the speed just disapates as I start to pump.

Come skate with us on Saturday morning and you'll get all the in-person feedback you want
It may just take more practice... I don't know how many times you've tried so far?

learningAnother technique is to roll down a hill to a flat from a consistent point and go for longer and longer distance. Or use a very gentle grade and focus on building speed. Or start with a slalom board "rock the baby" style pump which tends to build so much speed you blow out of the cones.

well I actually got it to work I had to adjust my stance and really play with my front truck but it works alright now.

once you "get it" it becomes easier and easier with each roll.
and once you've got different pumping styles sussed out, you'll be able to pump near anything regardless of it's pumping efficiency. i find myself flatland pumping HEAPS when riding bowls on non-pumping boards now.

it's just a matter of practice, man...you're not gonna pump your first time out. it takes practice and time

I'm still in the process of learning myself but i'm finding that learning to pump comes in layers or stages. I'll be stuck on the same problem for a few days or a week and then I'll change one thing and it clicks. There are a lot of subtle movements that are going on at the same time that result in a efficient pump and it's almost impossible to do them all right away.
It's like rubbing your head and patting your belly, if you try and do both at the same time you'll prob mess up but if you do one and then start the other it's easier. First mess around with your stances and see what works best, then move to different techniques (wiggle vs long stride, etc) and feel where they are best applied, then start pumping from your core instead of your legs, etc...after a while you'll start doing them all together and that "ah-ha" moment hits you.
pain = gain.
