it seems like we're already looking at the promise of new wheels; pre-coned PPS and abec's, bennett's supergators, the OJ hot juices, not to mention the new ventures from earthwing.

anybody try the new earthwing "purethane" wheels for pumping?

I tried the Obombers, hoping they would be a lot like the black 76mm Superballs, but faster. They are faster, but don't grip nearly as well. They are very drifty. A smooth drift. It's not just the change in the 'thane, but the shape and narrower width that contribute to that driftiness. They're not good rear LDP wheels. They're fine as front wheels and that's how I plan to use them.

I am trying the 77mm Seismic Vents, 75a for rear and 83a front.

The orange ones just glow. Looks kind of cool. They work really well but I have not broken them in yet. I plan to log some decent miles on them today.

They are markedly louder rolling wheels then the 75mm 83a 'Tangs. My initial impression is that they do transmit more vibrations as well. But that's just my initial impression. It's my understanding the(un-hyped) black ops urethane is the harder duros. For me, that would be the front. But with so much of the wheel being the plastic core, how dramatic can it be? The new avilas w/o the core may be a better test?

Any who, let me get some decent miles on these. I would really like to break these in as quickly as possible.

First morning out on the white 77a blackOps avilas. Did a 14-miler with Panda. Wanted to switch and let him try but my board's way too flexy for him, so I'm going to put these on another deck soon.

Butta smooth -- less chatter than the Vents, though it was really smooth pavement too. Of course the tradeoff could be top end speed, haven't really done enough yet to make significant conclusions. Just loving the feel though... smooth like the old Avilas but I can definitely feel more responsiveness. More to come later!

Nice! I have been meaning to pick up a set of 4, just hate buying them direct and then having to pay full price and shipping. Only available through seismic still right?

I think I am in the same boat. The other place would be stoked skateboards and its like a 3-4 day wait fot them to ship the item.
