LD skater since 1971

I went on two long walkabout's today.

Last night my Long board larry walkabout I bought from PDX or mountain sports arrived they had it in stock shipped it right away. I decide to break it in today on the 16 mile round trip Oceanside bike lane trail. I decided to start at the inland end of the trail to avoid the head wind on the way back. Smart call because I had a head wind even at 9:00 a.m. but the trip back was fast.
I am finally riding a purpose built LDP board it really a nice shape I really like the cloth graphics. You can see the carbon fiber mat line and the fiberglass on top of the board. I love the up turn nose you can put your foot in the pocket and really pump, The Walkabout pumps great in all styles of pumping .

When I post styles of pumping their is the tight slalom style that I do where you pump short fast pumps off the nose like your running straight line of cones. This is how I had to ride all my other boards.
The other style is surfer style with your feet wide apart you swing out back and forth like your running eight foot cones that our off set 3 feet apart. I really had not done this style riding in a long time this board cooks when you use this style. But what I like is the board is wide enough you can move your feet around experiment with different pumping techniques on the move.
The surfer style really piss off some speed bicycle riders gangs and scarry little women speed rollerbladers. That think they are ice skate speed racing.

So I completed the trip I was getting a little wheel bite with the big zigs once in awhile. I saw this skateboard shop at the shopping center down the street from the park. I picked up these nice hard rubber slightly wedged pads.I used one of the wedges and my rubber Khiro wedge on the front I got more pump and turn out of my trusty Tracker RTX truck.

So I decided to check out the new wedged front truck set up. I planed on  pumping down the road about a mile. I kept on going because it felt so good all the way down to Delmar and back.

What was cool was the down hill going past the San Elijo camp grounds on the bike path only. The board was so stable at 15 to 20 mph I was standing on the nose doing these soul arch carves.
I had done soul arch style turns in almost 30 years it felt good.  So another 13 miles this afternoon.

So 29 miles total for today now I know how James feels when he commutes on his board to work and back.

So It feels great to have a new board that is LDP purpose built composite board. The LBL walkabout seem readily available if you do a google search and call the dealer first to see if they have one in stock get one you will go on a walkabout.

I also stopped by Tracker to get a Tracker sticker for the bottom of my new board they gave me quite a few of the cool re-pop design of the original Tracker wing sticker form the 1970's. it look great it fits the LBL motif of a old style look but a high tech LDP board in stealth mode.
