How do you downhill with a LDP board ?

It's all in the title , there are downhills  on the trail I ride , not really steep but steep enough to go 30 mph and over for a couple of them , I find it scary sometimes.  1 slope is 15% , but usually they are around 5%   some are very long and straight (it's an old railway path converted in greenway).
I usually carve and there is no problem , but I'm not always alone in the trail and sometimes I have to go straight down the line and beyond a certain speed the riding becomes real sketchy and scary .
How do handle those speedy parts in your trail ?
Any advice is welcome .    Sylvain

PS I use a Bennett in front

yeah bennetts and indys are really turny at speed, the main thing is riding confidently over the front to avoid wobs when you're up to speed.

on narrow lanes or 2-way traffic, mad footbraking skills are essential.   you can trim 35mph down to 25mph fast, just putting some rubber to the road.  hope that works?

I was dreaming at some magical trick  and "BAM" good ol' footbraking Very Happy  Very Happy

Please Mr Vans , give me a full box of shoes !!!

Thanks James .               Sylvain

i run a splitfire in the rear which is pretty stable, so I get the weight over that and try not to make any sudden movements!  buttboarding has taught me that bennetts are quite stable as long as you can hold a straight line, as the dive when turning is what makes them scary!

carve hard

carve hard and keep the speed down.  you work too hard getting back up the hill not to take your time.  step off if you're interrupted.  smashing someone's ankles isn't going to make any LDP friends.

the way i do it is i have to speedcheck myself every so often. that or carve very very very deep. either way its an amazing feeling. ive taken my pumper to about 25 ish without wobbles, you have to lean into a downhill carve deep. and dont give your trucks a chance to loosen
LD skater since 1971

I have trackers RTX and STX all the way around on my board. I just drag  my foot every 10 yard or so or if their a run off I just go with it one foot over the front truck and the other back a more than normal.
If it to big of hill I now get off and walk down I have nothing to prove any more.

When Jim Korten use to work for me delivering appliances we were going down to Lakeside from Ramona and he forgot his Luge board.
So he asked me to stop and he got out my Schmidt yard stick with very loose indys trucks for slappies.

Jim hopped on it with no truck adjustment and bombed highway 67 standing up. I followed him down the grade he hit about 52 mph top speed. But he started to get speed wobbles at about 45 mph halfway down. I noticed he just slowly put his hand on top of the board over the front truck and the wobbles stopped.

When I saw Jim do that I finally realized he was the king of all forms of speed on skateboard. Because he very rarely did stand up downhill because he felt luge was safer and faster.
