I started small, this was really aimed at me starting slalom, but i rode it all the time, great little pump set up, it taught me alot.
This one was more for fun really, only 24" long, Larry Bertleman twin fin copy, mistracks and zigzags, we had some fun going through cones on this.
But sooner or later i had to get to the real stuff, this was the begining of set ups that really worked well, with James's help i tried the Carver CX front and various other things including Randals and Fibrelite's, but RTS/RTX i found worked really well for me.

Since then i've tried the 4.3 bennett, but have found i like the 5.0 better, but have kept the RTS on the back and moved onto the Pink Gumballs.
My brother then got interested and i thought it would be a good chance to try a proven shape. It was another flat deck, but proved a point.
This week i've pressed one, but have gone slightly to concave on the rear, so i'm just tweeking with another layer on top, i'll let you know the outcome soon.....

Welcome Steve! Good to see you here!
The last board is a winner, i'm loving the look of the concave on the rear foot. It would be like the LDP version of a pavel roadster rear. Gas pedal.

Just finished shaping after the last layer glued last night.
Last coat of varnish drying in the sun, i've left it a bit ruff and ready, it is a prototype after all, i have taken lot of time over new ideas and made them look great, then found they are useless!!
Good to see you buddy, i'm sure you will get to try this one next time i see you.

I havent been out on it yet as i've been asleep, (i'm back at work tonight),
but i'll be taking it to work as the big empty carpark has great tarmac!
Its not got alot of flex at all Nat and thats with me on it!
Its now set up at 27" WB, the extra 3 ply on top has leveled out the concave a bit and it feel alot better, i'll let you know when i've had a go.

check out here,
i'm at work and cant do pics from here, the press is very simple,
about half way down the page under all the pics of my decks is a pic of my press.

I like that idea for the press i have never seen one like that. much simpler than a toothless press. what are the dimensions of your press?

Ah yes Toothless,
he's got some good stuff on his site, i learnt some things on there.
His type of press can give you a very specific shape, mine is limited to an extent, but mine was only meant for simple shapes, with no real camber.
I wanted to make slalom decks and wanted to be able to make them from ts to sgs, so i can make a deck with a rear kicktail upto about 40" long.
From the block that is on it to bring the tail up to the nose end its 36", its about (from memory) 11" wide.
Your best bet is decide what deck you want to make and make it bigger than you need, the rails are 1" square, but i have already found for most decks this is too deep, but i have used scrap bits if thin ply under the deck, so it does not press too deep and i can adjust it either way.
The joy is, it will allow me to make slalom decks with kicktails, old school pool decks, crusing decks, LDP decks and some i've probably not thought of yet, as its all hard wood and only screwed together, so it can all be moved or even removed to adjust the press as i need to.
All you must remember is, before covering everything in glue and finding your new deck and press are never going to be parted,
cover the whole thing in brown packing tape, wood glue will not stick to it!

so its about like 36 long 11 wide 1 deep? how big is the kicktail block?

OH well, as i antisipated, the concave at the back is too much for my size 9(uk) feet,
wont do that next time.
