Holey Bushings

Anyone try them? I ordered one set of 72a, 78a, 88a, and 95a. I haven't been able to try them out since it is raining. The bottom bushing is hourglass, but it is the perfect size for the Bennetts. Being an hourglass shape, I have noticed, while standing on the board in the kitchen, that the bushings seem softer. Is this because of their shape?

Hay Jim JP hooked me up with a set of the "78A Holey Smoke" they felt really good but shredded very fast.

Hmmm with my new kingpin mod I would imagine they would last a bit longer....I think I will order another set to tryout again.

I have been riding my same modded bushing setup now for weeks with no shredding. And the tube doesn't seem to be getting much worst as well. I must say I'm quite pleased....

I ordered mine through longboardskater.com. On their site, they mention that Holey Smokes are now 72a and that the Pinks are 78a--a swap in color and duro. The other three colors are still the same duro. I don't think as a bottom that shredding will be too much of a problem. I found some sweet KPs at BoltDepot.com that have only a 1/2 of threads saving the bottom bushing(s) from death by shred. I have still to try your mod with the top bushings that I am chewing through like an airhead cheerleader chews gum. It's getting expensive. So what works best? The PVC pipe or the AL pipe?

We are Holey everything over here in the UK, Holey trucks are the default equipment on most longboards it seems but we love them!
Gavin the lovely man who makes them only lives a few miles up the road from us and he works alone in 'The Cave'. He's a total stylist.
Have you noticed the little lip on the top bushing to hold the urethane in the cup? Pure genius Very Happy

You're right about the holey smokes now being softer than the bubblegum pinks, there was a manufacturing error which lead to the duros getting muddled up Rolling Eyes

Haven't tried them in my Bennett yet but it's only a matter of time....

I got some of the Holey smokes and pinks, I am glad I ordered both as the info on the site I bought them from was wrong. and I nearly only orederd the holey smokes which after riding a couple of miles on them I realised they were a lot softer than the pinks. so changed back to the pinks.

My new set up for my front Bennet 5.0 is Holey Pink bottom bushing with a Khiro Orange top bushing, I had never thought of using the Holeys even though I love them on my Lush Kilima, but I am glad I have now, the board is so much more responsive and turns better, the hourhlass shape means that the busing cup on the hanger does not dig in to the side of the bushing like happens with the barrel bushing which restricts turning, I think this makes a wholey lot of difference, and as a bonus makes the pumping easier.

As a side note to this, my Slalom deck has a Sk8Kings Skennett on the front which has one of Richy's special fused khiro hour glass bottom bushings in it, this is made from two Orange Khiro cones melted together,
when I first got the Skennet with this bushing it turned remarkably well, when I changed it for a Khiro orange barrel and homemade spacer I was struggling with even 7 feet spaced cones as the deck just would not turn for me, I think the broblem is the hanger biting into the side of the barrel, after changing the bushing back to the Hourglass I could make 6 foot spaced cones as the turning was not restricted.

In conclusion I think the hour glass shaped bottom bushings are the way to go with Bennett trucks and the 78a pink (or smoke if you have older ones) Holeys are spot on for me combined with a barrel top bushing.
I may change the top bushing to a different one as Richy recomends the Superballs Green which are a lot harder and more springy? than the Khiro orange barrel.

What does anyone else think about the hourglass vrs barrel bushing, have you noticed the biting on the center of the barrel from the hanger and have you found the Hourglass more turney because of the lack of this biting.

hey Eric I updated the Gear page with your AL pipe now, but in fact your mod isn't as prominent anymore (gotta keep it fresh!) but at some point, I'm going to break that ever-growing page out into categories...so bushings will have their day in the sun. Some... Day.

i absolutely love the way the Holey's fit the Bennetts. however, i must say the Holeys' (smokes) still blew out a wee bit too fast on me. the bottoms seem to start splitting. my Khiros have been lasting for months, with no particular mods, so I just haven't felt like I should mess with a good thing. actually i've been riding a combo, two khiros on bottom and a big red cone bushing from the Carver CX on top.

i'm not sure about the hourglass vs. barrel, at least I haven't spent enough time on hourglass to really detect the difference. but I do "snug down" my barrells so there's really no floppiness, so I rely a lot on that compression when the hangar is a little more than half way to its max turn.

the bushing "snap test" is something Brad Jackman coached us to do when we set up slalom setups -- after setting up new bushings, before going on a ride, is to stand the board on its tail, pull one wheel down toward the deck with a couple fingers, then let it release, like plucking a guitar string. i want my truck to spring back -- "boingggggggg!!" -- back to center, then it's ready to roll. it should never be a slow return to center, nor should it get "stuck" at less than center.

still, it totally makes sense when Holeys are made right in your backyard to play around with the different durometers, I sure would! curious to try a duro harder on those again, to test durability. maybe over the winter garage sessions. thanks for the input Barry...makes me want to check these out again.

Interesting theory. Gotta say I really like my custom(same size as the lower Bennet) Pink Abec11 bushing. I use an orange cone for the top but was thinking of trying the same size "Bitch" bushing instead(a little 'meatier').
Anybody try the Khiro Bitch Bushings at all?
