Galac "Galacized" Bennetts.........

These are a Bennett that has had lots of love put into it.
Faced hangers, sanded, buffed hanger bodysmoothed bushing seats, polished pivot,
sanded/lubricated pivot cup, custom paint, steel spacers,
custom bushings/washers, smoother response, more fluid feel..
I have just added these to my website:
http://www.galaclongboards.com/galacized.html
The full details are on my site including all info and price.

Update: There will be a Grade 8 Kingpin option for $3.00 extra.

Holy shit, those things are absolutely beautiful Sam. Great job, I wish My board had a bit more color to it so that I could put a pair of those on my Pulse and not have them look out of place.
samhell

Thanks man, yeah they make me drool...
You could always just go with black baseplates and lettering.. Wink
And a little color always livens things up....
A nice colorful shiney Bennett on a pulse would be the bees knees..

Hey hey!

I've already asked this on an email to the Galac email address, but it might be good on here also?

Are the steel spacers bearing spacers? (as in inside the wheel between the bearings?) or as a spacer between the hanger and inner bearing?

What would be great is if the hanger was a 5.0, milled down so that fitting a regular speed ring would make it equivilant to 4.3 wide, and a larger spacer/speed ring to make it equivilant to 5.0 wide. awesome.

also, are they available unpainted? or in black paint? for the more conservative look?

Finally, can they be posted to the UK? for a price?

Yes, the spacers that come with them are spacers
for between the bearings. These will most likely end up
being Khiro spacers, as the grade 8 one's are hard to come by.
I could definately take a 5.0 an dmill down the hanger to
the width of a 4.3 and use Sk8kings small brass spacers to spcer it out
and five it a little verstility in track width.
But.. I would have to charge somewhere in the neighborhood
of close to $20.00 for that option... But I could definately do it,
I've milled a 4.3 down and taken off 3/8" per side of th eaxle and use
my custom stainless stell spacers and speed rings.
This is what it looks like, I use this as a tight slalom front truck.
It's work amazigly and I love it.
this is with the stainless steel spacer s and heavy shouldered
speed rings I was talking about.. But I do the same thing with
Sk8kings mini brass spacers and a bearing spacer.

These are the Sk8kings spacers I was talking about, these things are great.

A 5.0 hanger milled down to a width of 4.3, allowing the use of spacers up to 5.0, sounds absolutely ideal! It's now just whether it will become less strong, and whether I need 5.0 width?

I'll send an email as I've got loads going on in my head! hahaaa!

cheers for the info!
samhell

I emailed you back and tried to answer all your questions... Very Happy

Here a few shots from Malakai Kingston at ASR yesterday
of the Galacized Bennett... This was recieved extremely
well by those in the industry who saw it...
I have big plans for these, and thet are already underway...

Stock Bennett hanger on the left, Galacized on the right..

Resting on the POD Micro...

John- those trucks are a thing of beauty! Nice work.
samhell

Thanks man!
They sure are fun to ride....
Sooooooooo smooth and juicy..
I think I solved my lust for more precision trucks...
For the money, I can have a boatload of these for the
price of a good precision.
But don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my
Radikal Dragons Claw.. But I can't bring myself
to use it for LDP. it only gets ridden through the cones...
aschmidt

I envy you. I miss using Bennetts...just been tossed once too many times due to kingpin clearance (actually lack of clearance).
samhell

I hear you on the kingpin bite, but I've learned
to adjust to it, and try to avoid hitting things
diagonally... Getting slammed is never fun.
What are you using now?
I'll be posting some new photos of the new
batch of Galacized Bennetts tonight or tomorrow.

Any 5.0's in this next batch?

If there are I'll take one with a grade 8.
samhell

I do have two 5.0's ready to Galacize...
Shoot me an email at info@galaclongboards.com
I also have some Randal Grade 8's (the new black ones)

Virage.

Must be nice....
Those look like really nice trucks...
I'm in the process of designing a truck
based off a Bennett, that will be a CNC
project I'm going to have made.
It will be very similar to a Bennett,
but the kingpin won't stick down as far and
will have a spherical in the hanger and
a spherical pivot.. It's a ways off, but I'm working
on the design of it right now.
I'll be posting images soon...
LDPanda

I dont know if youre looking for notes right now, but my personal suggestion would be to skip the spherical at the pivot. I have a bennett modified with two sphericals and i find it makes my ride feel very stiff with the loss of a pivot cup. Also, if it has a standard or ball pivot (especially an adjustable ball pivot ala splitfire/fuxtrux) then you can put it on a different (unmodified) baseplate if you choose. If you have a spherical pivot, youre locked into one hangar for one baseplate.
samhell

Thanks for your input on this..
I'm still in the blueprint, concept phase right now.
It will be a little while befoe I have anything finalized
and actually ready for a machinist to even look at..
But I do plan on making this happen, I'm still
sorting through all the design possibilitie and idea.
Here is a shot of one of Chris Yandall's Yellow
Galacized Bennett 4.3's that wil be going on his yellow POD deck..
And a shot of Timbo666's Bennett 5.0 milled down to 4.6 heading for
England..

I do have one 5.0 left to Galacinze right now and bunch of 4.3's..

The Virages are great trucks and I'm very happy with them. I no longer have to ride with my eyes glued to the road but I miss the groovy feel of a Bennett...I'm anxious to see what you have in the works.

Here's a pic of my Bennett kingpin. The bike path where I do most of my riding has sections that are less than ideal for LDP.
samhell

Yeah, that kingpin looks like the ususal damage
from less than perfect terrain.
I'm still in the napkin sketch ideas stage.
But I have some ideas I want to implement
into this truck. When I have some time, I'll be
firing up Rhino 3D and starting the modleing stage
and be able to visualize everything much better.
This is my sketch over an existing Bennett illustration,
I'm not sure who did the original illustration, I found
it on the internet.
I might be changing a few things, but no matter what
I want to retain the feeling of a Bennett..
It will be at least 6 months before I even think of
actually having one made...
The 3D renderings will bring it more to life and I'll
be able to show what I really have in mind.

I like the sound of that John. Something else you might want to consider...the Virages built-in wedging is so nice. Makes assembly a breeze and easier on the hardware.

Anxious to see what you cook up.
