Front Splitfire question

I just got a Splitfire 107 w/Randal 50° baseplate to use as a front truck, so my 2 questions are;

1) How many degrees do you wedge it ?

2) What bushings work best with it ?

I tried many different wedges and bushings , but It still pumps half the speed I am used to with a Bennett , but with twice more efforts. Sad

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sylvain

hey sylvain!   it's been a while since I ran a front split for any serious distance  (summer 2007)  but I used to run about the same amount of wedge as I do the Bennett  (between 12-15 deg)  and with the 50 deg plate.  so it got the kingpin pointing quite a ways "forward"--- get the pin increasingly closer to becoming parallel with the deck and the ground.    (hopefully that makes sense?)

and at that time I was running either white khiro barrels both top and bottom, or a white barrel bottom and orange on top.   now I'd be tempted to try the same truck with the soft gooey Venoms.

one thing I really liked about the split was the clearance from the ground.  with the protruding Bennett kingpin, I'm far more aware of running over traffic turtles and any biggish rocks in the road.

Thanks a lot James.

sure.  the other thing I forgot to mention is how Gary Fluitt used to set up his slalom board front Splitfire -- with a white barrel on the bottom, then a white or orange barrel on top, PLUS a cone on top.

He would swap out to a slightly longer kingpin in order to have enough pin to handle all the extra bushing...he said having more "meat" on the top like that gave it even better response.   would be great to see how yours work out!!
