from DH to the LDPI guess you can say I was bitten by the pump bug. and now I'm looking for a new board and set up.
was thinking of getting a bennett front with a tracker rear and high rebound wheels like the new zigzags. but my question is I originally learned how to pump on a landyachtz Evo. and have herd that the hips on the subsonic pulse help pump off the rear. I guess what I'm getting to is.
Is this any thing like pumping the Evo?
I'm really looking to get from point A to point B at a faster speed and would like a lot more energy return.

new postsafter reading some new posts (I really send my thanks to Juan M.) for his post they have really helped me. but have been thinking is there a difference in styles when it comes to trucks? I learned with Randal styled trucks so was wondering if it was any easier with bennets

I learned on Paris trucks. I can't pump on Randals at all, they just don't turn enough. I haven't tried Bennetts yet. Paris 180's on a dervish, and the same on a Cambiar. Both perform well. I still want a Pulse with Vectors though. Most of my power comes from pumping the nose, but since i am not wedged, i tend to swing the rear around when i get tired of the nose. Gives a real surfy feel.

I keep trying getting some solid pumping going on my Dervish with a pair of Paris 180's, but I end up losing too much speed ... So not a flatland pumper.

I do 2 miles on weekdays at the local track. Never put a foot down. What kind of wheels and terrain are you on?

I'm on fair quality asphalt with 80a 77mm hawgs. They don't really grip that well so they might of course have something to do with it.
My dervish is a flex 2 so it's perhaps a bit too lively.

Yeah I am on a flex 1 at 210 lbs. I run lime bigzigs or 78a gumballs. My bushing setup is either yellow randals all the way around or a khiro triple stack - orange top, white barrel, hanger, orange barrel in the front and orange top, orange barrel, hanger, blue barrel in the back. But I had to do 3" kp's to make that happen. Lively front, semi lively rear. Lots of fun and pretty efficient.
Foot positioning can be a big deal. Front foot as far forward as possible and perpendicular to the board with your heel on the rail, back foot in the center of the board with the ball of your foot at the rail and your toes hanging over. This should put the flex squarely under your control to generate power. You can swing your weight into the deck as hard as you want it to return. Start by using a single power stroke method, then graduate to getting power off of both strokes. I got frustrated at first trying to catch both strokes then realized I didn't need them, just one. On 180's it is a wide stroke. Try timing the stroke to Nine Inch Nails "Ringfinger" for the cadence.
Hopefully this helps. Go skate, I can't. It's snowing in Atlanta today. 55 and sunny tomorrow though. Weird.

It's been pouring down for weeks. Even had snow, but only for a day. Then we got back to good old rain.

HawgsGday jat, I tried some hawgs and they were a bit slow. The wheels seem large, tall and mushy. This is a bit of a hindrance when you pump with the rear foot, the wheel feels like it flexes sideways. A more solid wheel like a Gumball or Big Zig would get more direct power to the road.
