First LDP Sesh! 2º Weather

There hasn't been much precipitation lately so the sidewalks have been drying up.  Fortunately there hasn't been much wind today so I went ahead and went out for a sesh with my buddy Cam.  This board rides better than I could've imagined!  I'm still refining my pumping technique but I am definitely getting better.  I tried stiffening up the back but I actually found that it worked against it so I went back to red and yellow Khiros.  Anyways, few pix!

Check the turn on that front truck!

I have been waiting to see even that much of the ground (that's usable). Glad to see your having fun...btw considering you mentioned the temp...where are your gloves?
scooterdad

I won't complain about the temperature here anymore.  The board looks cool!   The weather looks cold.  Seriously I see your gator but where are your gloves?

I used to live in Vermont, but I have since gotten soft.  We are due for a dusting of snow here today that will likely shut the area down  Smile

8 below here right now....took a 20 minute drive to warm up the car this morning. Of course that was when I arrived back home. Scooterdad I think as parents we automatically look for things like gloves. The two young men/boys downstairs from me are always getting scolded for forgetting theirs. One caught heck because he said he couldn't help shovel snow because his hands were cold. When asked where his gloves were he said "I don't use them because I don't need them". You can imagine what the three adults present responded. Petary, keep us informed about your setup, and how it is working for you....

Well, no skating for me today.  My wife even vetoed the Ruckus this morning.  That thing is fun in the snow...

My kids drive me crazy with the gloves/hats.  Can never find them when they're ready to go out the door, when they find them they won't wear them, then complain they're cold.  My hands are always cold when I exercise outside this time of year with gloves, so I broke down and bought some toasty Gore-Tex mittens this weekend.  Much better.

Sorry petary791... didn't mean to go off topic.  Would love to see/hear more about the board.
Crake

Wow...after seeing Petary do that, Im inspired to try it this week. Ill definately wear gloves.

HEY HEY STOP IT WITH THE GLOVE TALK!!!  Laughing I had 2 pairs in my pockets but I just took them off to try out the new bushing setups!  But seriously, I love you guys and I think it's great that you're looking out for my members.

Pumping is pretty addicting.  Hopefully this will improve my cardio.  Embarassed

I really want to hear more about the mistress, i think youre one of the very few riding one right now. How is the flex? How much do you weigh? whats the clear grip job on it like? what are your impressions so far? Can you compare it to anything else youve ridden?

sorry if youve already posted on this, i didnt see it.

thanks

Yeah AFAIK I'm one of the few out there rockin a Mistress.  When reading these things keep in mind I'm 5'7" and 165 or so lbs.

The flex is perfect for me.  Mine is a prototype that is Baltic Birch with one layer of fiberglass on the bottom, and I'm pretty sure he's doing strictly BB right now but it really shouldn't matter I don't think.  If I stand both feet in the middle it's a nice bouncy flex but when I'm riding it's quite responsive for snapping out of those turns.  The clear grip is super gnar; it callouses my fingers when I'm holding it!  I used to pump my Mosquito and of course this is easier.  The only other thing I can relate it to is my Libido.  I wish I had more things to relate this to.

I hope this helps a bit.  Feel free to prod more.  When I get a new board I don't really know what to post about it.  Laughing

Man, and I thought our 25* was cold, it's been icy on the trails-- but I'm with Crake, it's inspiring just to see you out on the snow-lined streets!   I keep running into LDPanda out on the trails here as well.    Great to see the board in action!!
LDPanda

Yeah james, its been good running into you on the trail, too bad youve been on your bike lately  Embarassed haha. I had a lady ask me about ldp on the trail today, she said she had seen you and wanted to know why you looked so much more "effortless" (her word, not mine) I guess i do work up a bit of a sweat out there  Rolling Eyes Hope to see you out there again soon.

It was 16 degrees or so yesterday but I bundled up and pushed for a few miles on the streets that were clear of snow and ice. I plan on going out today if I get a chance also. Thanks for the inspirational "push"!

the streets here are still far too icy-n-snowy to skate, but since it's finally getting into the double-digit temps this weekend I'm going to get out and hit a parking ramp  ... the itch to skate is getting unbearable, agh

It's good to hear I've influenced some people.   Cool  Be sure to wear pads in garages because if there's a patch of water you will SLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDEEEE.

Today hit 39º so I pulled out the shorts and went for a cruise with my buddy Alex.  My left thigh is ripped from kicking, but holy crap my right one was dead after pumping.  Here is how it looks after 2 miles.

Not too bad on top:

Salt invasion!

I'm not photographer but I thought this was a slick picture.

Very nice. A dirty board. I've spent too long indoors looking at clean boards and trucks. And it's supposed to hit 35 - 40* F here this week too.

Gonna put some laps in somewhere, just gotta spy down a good location...
ZapZang

Yesterday I got to get out and cruise around the residential city streets and it was glorious. Endurance has taken a bit of a hit, but form and ability seem largely unaffected by the winter break - apparently it's a lot of body memory like riding a bike, and hard to forget.

Now we're supposed to be getting 6-9 inches of snow today.

Grrr.
