Fekkin Dags (and their owners)I got attacked by a dog today >< not like it just ran up to me and barked, like full on ran me off the trail and bit my knee. The owner's husband (i assume) ran over and got the dog off me before it did any real damage. I get up and look at this woman and say "if you cant control your dog, dont let it off the leash." thats all i said, no cursing, no insults. She responds to me, "It just broke off the leash, dumbass." DUMBASS?!? im a dumbass for getting attacked by your dog who isnt even on a leash? Im fucking pissed, this woman's lucky i wasnt in a litigious mood. I work in insurance, i know how expensive cases like that can be.
With the addition of a broken front kingpin and a nasty slideout, this was a crappy skating day. At least the company was good.

That sucks, dude. I really have no patience for people that can't control their pets, or allow their pets to simply do whatever. Can't say i would have been as nice as you...
I've had a dog attack me as well. Run up on me and bit/grabbed my arm. I had a jacket and a sweatshirt so it didn't do any actual damage and after a few seconds he let go and then pretty much left me alone. The bite didn't bother me but i had had my ipod on, it was at night, and he came from behind so the shock of it had my heart beating through my eyes lol..
I've also had a dog play/run with me as i carved this really mellow hill close by. He was having a blast finally finding a human who was able to keep up with him haha. Then his owner came outside and ruined all the fun by taking him inside. I miss that pooch, i always wanted to go back with my mini and race him down the street lol

btw, if it broke skin at all, you should get it checked out / make sure your rabies shots are up to date anyway. don't know if you've seen my bite but it was quite an experience (also at greenlake) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drhqyV8pwpg
i am mostly puzzled why that entitlement attitude of the dog owner's is so prevalent in our culture, when people should know they're in the wrong and still go on the attack. Japanese society is not without it's oddities, but one thing I really liked living years over there was that people have a much better grip on deference, respect, and humility with one another when its called for.

Theres some bruising (more than i expected really) but the owner's husband was pretty quick on the draw and got it off me fast, no blood. I dont blame the dog, i prolly named my post poorly out of anger. Its all the owners fault, im not even sure i buy the "it broke off the leash" excuse.

Definitely right that she's lucky you aren't the litigious type. I'm sure if you call a personal injury attorney, he'll send you over to one of his doctor's "just to get checked out", and before you know it you'll be treating 3 times a week with a chiropractor for permanent neck and back injuries you sustained when violently falling to the pavement as a result of the savage dog attack. He'll also make a property damage claim, for without question it was the savage dog attack which caused your kingpin to break and the ensuing spill. And if you were to file a lawsuit, your injuries would surely become far worse and ongoing, for strangely, healing is negligible until the lawsuit settles which takes several months, if not years. Fortunately, since there is no lawsuit, your minor injuries will heal within a few days or so.
I can never understand litigious types who sue and play the pathetic, permanently injured victim for profit under the guise of some bogus sense of entitlement which is at its core its basically unethical and of weak character. But it actually becomes just slightly more understandable how motivations other than greed can drive people to sue when the person at fault acts like this lady. It is beyond me why you'd even take your dog in public, much less with a leash shoddy enough to break (allegedly), if it is prone to attacking and out of your control. That's just asking for a lawsuit. Just what the world needs, one more lawsuit...you handled it perfectly, given the circumstances. Hopefully, they'll take this as a lesson that they need to keep their dog under better control.

A dog doesnt even have to touch you to sue, lol. I worked a case a week or two ago where a mans dog ran over to a woman and barked, she got startled and lost her balance and fell. THEN SHE SUED the guy! It was thousands of dollars of medical bills and pain and suffering. I dont know how it turned out, but it wouldnt surprise me a bit if she won. Its a wacky country we live in where we defer all personal responsibility to the state. Either that or she just wanted to get paid, a lot of people think lawsuits are easy acess to quick money, they never think about the lives they ruin in the process. I was hit as a pedestrian by a car in highschool and thought very seriously about suing the guy but my older (and wiser) brother talked me out of it for just that reason, why ruin some 18 year olds life for a half second of misjudgement.
Edit: Blake, fair enough, i didnt see that, i just saw massive black dog coming at me with no leash lol. Still, it begs the question what kind of shoddy leash breaks?

it was probably user error more then shoddy leash because when we skated past the dog next the leash held fast even though i was scared that i was gunna loose some kinda limb when he did a full lunge at me.
you should post some pics of your knee i wanna see the damage.

As you can see, its nothing really, two lil bruises where some longer teeth were and some general discoloration. The swellbow ive got from the KP break fall is a lot worse lol. It didnt hurt or anything, i was more pissed that that lady insulted me for getting attacked by her dog (and that my gloves got dirty when i hit the mud).
