Doing it wrong?!I have been trying to pump for the last few months and have had no luck whatsoever. I push off to get some speed and after a few pumps I loose momentum. I've been studying everything online and youtube and just dont seem to get it.
I'm trying it on my only board a Dregs Flagship 48" with Randal 180's and 66mm 78a Gravity wheels.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure you're going relatively fast when you try to pump (10mph) and even use small declines to give you some help along the way.
180's a really wide hangar to learn to pump on. 150's would be better, 125's, even better.
66mm wheels are fine although a little small for the longer term. For learning though, the smaller == good for quick acceleration.
What kind of bushings you running in your trucks and how are they set up?

everything is stock on the trucks
I have been toying around with the idea of getting a loaded pintail since they seem a bit more suited to pumping. The board I have now is relatively a pintail plank, great for learning and cruising however, I dont think its the right board to pump with.

trucks and proper setup make all the difference. get some slightly less wide trucks.

yep the narrower truck hangars and better bushings are more important than changing up your deck.

FINALLY!!!I was taking the dogs for a walk / skate (they walk, I skate) and was just farting around the neighborhood carving to and fro and I noticed that I was gaining on my four-legged skate buddy. I was actually pumping without concentrating on it. FINALLY!!
I took the advice and changed my bushings and got some bigger wheels. 76mm / 75A Sector 9. I got some Doh-Doh's from the local skateshop (sadly its all they carry). I purchased a few packs so that I can build the kind of bushing i wanted by combining the two shapes they come in. Barrel, connical, hour-glass ... whatever. So after trying a few different combinations, even though it takes a lot to pump on 180 hangers, I FINALLY GOT IT.
Pretty stoked about it. I'm saving up for a LDP board and in the meantime still researching which to get.
Thanks for the help you guys.
