Dewedging a Seismic Stable Turn

As I patiently await my Mermaid, resigned to the fact that it will be months without any communication from the master builder himself, I have started making my current board, a Loaded Pintail into a makeshift LDP'er.

Initially after changing the Paris 150s to a Bennett 5.0 with 15 degree risers plus the Khiro angled shock pad, and a Seismic 150 with green springs (I weigh 200) with an angled Khiro shock pad dewedging it, I was very disappointed, as I had lost all of the surf feel.   It was like the rear truck did not turn at all.  I experimented with replacing the stock springs, and bushings in the Bennett, but to no avail.   I then removed the dewedging from the rear truck, and to my great satisfaction, the surf feel was returned, with the added bonus of increased forward momentum out of my pumps.   I'm loving this set up.

I am curious - what amount of dewedging are you all finding works best with the Seismic Stable Turn as your rear truck?

I was accustomed to 10-12 degrees of dewedging with a Tracker RTS, so when I got my Stable-Turn I tried it with 10, then I went to 5 degrees and now I've spent the most time on it with a Khiro soft riser and find that it is ideal. So long as your back wheels are not sliding out, just stick with your current set-up. I have found that when I go back to a board with a more traditional set-up (with no wedging/dewedging) it's actually hard for me to pump. It's like I have to re-learn the old way, if that makes sense.

Hey, I see you live in Largo. If you have any LDP routes that you can recommend, please let me know. I tend to stick with Wilson Ream (East-West Trail) or Glen Oaks Park, but that gets a bit monotonous.

Stocago,

I just sent you an Instant Message.

Hey Ian.

Do you think the Mermaid will arrive before my fashionable Pulse 40(ordered a week ago)?

Still have a few months to decide what setup to run it with.

Tampa Bay Future LDPers unite.

Good route would be bayshore blvd at Gandy to Channelside. Downtown is empty on weekends. R/T would be about 12 miles.

I'd be up for it sometime. What type of pavement/quality?

I also run Seismics on my "short" (31") setup.  I tried various amounts of wedge / dewedge and found that the stable turns really worked best with less than 3º of dewedging.  Strange, but true for me.

The front quick turn (45º) Seismic works really well with the natural 10-15º wedge on a Bustin Spliff, so I imagine you might get some returns from wedging a front Seismic on a flat board.  But that's not your setup, is it!

I'm actually really having fun with the Seismics, they're good for medium-distance runs, and I enjoy the "technical" feel + the stability.  I have a 3 mile R/T commute to work, and that's all I tend to ride these days.

I was considering this set-up for a Roe I have on order. Seismic 45 in front and 30 in back.  What kind of springs are you using with your set-up?
