Burke-Gilman sessionsI may be up for a 50-miler tomorrow morning, starting really early from my place. I'd go from here to Gasworks park / in front of Urban Surf, which is the starting point for the Ultraskates, then over to Redmond, then back to my place at the Burke + 147th intersection, which is roughly the 15-mile marker from Redmond.
This assumes a 10mph pace, 5-hour total ride. It also assumes it's not going to rain!
Timeline would be
- 7 a.m. - leave my home at 147th & Burke
- 8 a.m. - Gasworks (10 miles)
- 10:30 a.m. - Marymoor Park, Redmond (25 miles)
- 12 noon - back at my place (15 miles)
So if anyone wants to hook up along the trail and catch all or some of the ride, let me know and I can probably estimate within a 10-15 minute window, we can connect by cel.

Hmm, as you know by now, your pace is a lil faster than mine (though ive improved some with the pulse under me) but it might be fun to meet up near my place (u village) and ride with you to gasworks, ive never gone that far west. Id prolly head back to my house from gasworks, but who knows. I think you have my cell and i have yours, itd be nice if we could firm up plans before the morning. From what i hear, things look good weather-wise tomorow.
Side note: you do know tomrow is v-day, right? your wife must be awesome to let you out of the house for that long. Me, im single, nobody cares where i go

Dave, you are wise man to think ahead like this, thanks
I'm all free and clear for tomorrow, we're doing our V-day thing on Sunday! I'll call you when I launch which should be right about 7.

Yep, the best laid plans... so I'll be heading out at 9 a.m. now, thanks for being flexible -- see you on the trail Dave!
Where are you Sheldon!?

I'm thinking about a Monday ride, I'll have no school and no work that day. I'm planning a 50 miler... maybe going more depending on daylight and how I'm feeling.

Cool! Sheldon drop a line if you end up riding the Burke again, and if you know what time you'll be in my hood, I'll skate down to the trail if the timing works out. We're just doing some shopping mid-day but I should have some window late morning and late afternoon.

Been some great rides lately -- Dave is smokin' the Burke like a crack addict (but not a nicotine addict) and I just got out on Greenlake yesterday with Meester Alldred. A killer couple days of 30-degree dryness in between snow.
Tomorrow morning if the weather holds up, I'm aiming for the same plan, a steady 10mph for 50 miles...
Timeline would be
- 7 a.m. - leave my home at 147th & Burke
- 8 - Gasworks turnaround (10 miles)
- 9:45 - Woodinville park
- 10:30 - Marymoor Park, Redmond (25 miles)
- 12 noon - back at my place (15 miles)
The alternate plan would be to cut the last 10 miles off and just head straight to Redhook Brewery at 11 a.m. for CARBOHYDRATES

*IF* the weather holds, id love to join you tomorow, i might catch up with you on your way back from gasworks, around my place. It would be great to catch a beer afterwards. IF youre concerned about pacing, a good alternative might be to meet at the woodinville rest stop (id need driving directions) and then i could join you with a lil more energy up to redmond and back to woodinville for some beers. Basically, i just need to know how concerned you are with maintaining 10mph. Hit me up.

Has anyone here tried the Redhook Double Black Stout? I've read some good reviews on Beeradvocate.

I havent but i might give it a try this afternoon. I dont know if youre local, but if you have a chance to get up to bellingham sometime Boundry Bay Brewery makes a damn fine oatmeal stout. Its so dark it seems to suck the light out of a room and has a great grainy finish.

Unfortunately, I live in the most opposite part of the country, Florida. Maybe I can fly out there this summer for the 1st Annual LDPumpfest. Redhook might even be a sponsor with free samples at the expo. If James offers a cyber mile event on Saturday, I'm definitely there!

Anyone wanna do something early Saturday morning? I have to be up around the university around noon but im thinking i might either do a very early sesh at greenlake (like 6am) or a trail sesh around 7ish. If anyones up for either, lemme know.

I'll keep it in mind! I'm nursing a @#$@# knee issue that's cropped up from all the bike riding -- and just taking it easy, epsom salts, stretching, all that jazz. Will call ya in the morning if I'm game.

CARBO-CRUISE
Today (Sat) meeting at Woodinville Redhook @ 11:45 then doing some really mellow miles in the area. Not sure if we'll eat / drink before or after, we'll just play it by ear.
Dave and I are riding out to the brewery from our respective locations on the Burke so he's leaving around 10, I'm leaving about 11, going east, in case anyone would want to drop in on the trail and bonk heads.
Getting Tim Eney set up on his first LDP!

Hey Derek, i live on the trail (like you can see my front door while riding) past the university but before the large intersection at 25th Street. this afternoon might not be ideal for me but my number is 425 246 8582 if you want to get together another time. Just dont expect me to pump up big momma, youre a BEAST! that hill is intense.

hey Dave-
thanks for the note. cool that you live so close to the trail. i usually start my rides at 60 acres (milepost 3.5) and head toward seattle. it would be great to get out on a ride with you. just don't expect me to pump up big mama either. it took me a while to figure this out, but skateboards seem to work way better going down the hills instead of up them...
ride times for me are anytime after 5 on monday and tuesday, and anytime during the rest of the week. I don't ride anywhere near as many miles as iron man Peters- i'm out there for 90 minutes to 2 hours at the most. text me at 206 498 3386 and i am good to go on very short notice.

Ahh, youre on the east side, thats why i didnt run into you on friday ^_^ I started on the west side and headed east for a while. Yeah, getting out to woodinville is about 16 miles for me, so if im gonna meet you out there i need a little heads up. Im moving to renton in a week tho so i might have to start driving to woodinville to enjoy the buttery smooth east side.

what's the skate store in renton- is it gravity sports? stores like that are few and far between.
also, you'll be close to the cedar river trail, which was in pretty good shape the last time i was there.
when you riding next? I can start from kenmore or so...

Hard to say, i hear we're expecting rain most of the early part of the week. I really need to put some time into getting my things ready to move. Maybe thursday or Friday. Yeah, gravity sports is on Ranier Way (or whatever its called when you get into Renton) its a great shop, nice staff. I just started checking out the cedar river trail a few weeks ago, its in really good condition and the pavement has been extended another couple miles since youve been there probably. Thats quite close to my new place and will probably become my new daily ride once i move. Even after i move though, ill still do the burke, its just such a familiar trail for me, prolly only on weekends though.
